I've been away from the computer all weekend, so I apologize if this has been discussed ad nauseam.
It is very clear that the players take on the attitude of the head coach, and that is one of the things that I have been very pleased with over the past couple of years. Mullen has had an "in your face, take no prisoners" attitude, and our players have put that onto the field. The past couple of games have been very different though. It is like our attitude has been more of a "just hold on and hope for the best" type mentality. I understand that to an extent vs. LSU, but then again teams like MSU do not beat teams like LSU without taking some chances. At the end of the LSU game is where I think our team attitude started to turn. I always took Mullen as a fight to the finish kind of guy, but he ignored football history that has shown time and time again that amazing comebacks are possible.
Now look at the La. Tech game. The majority of that game was coached lust like the 4th quarter of the LSU game, "lets just try to hold on." I understand that our O-line is banged up, but that should not kill the attitude of the team and the coaches. Mullen's comments after the game reminded me of Croom's after Maine.
It is going to be a long season unless we get our attitude back, and that starts with the head coach.
