Yeah, what a douche of a state- I cant believe they are trying to enforce laws.
What did checking ID ever do for anyone? Nothing! Just one more example of a state being overbearing and encroaching on the rights of its citizens!**

ID required for internet porn now.
Funny, I thought porn wasn't something that was something real or to be taken seriously unless you were actually stupid enough to be a part of it.

So, no problem with checking them when we vote in person then?
Well if its a law, then no I dont have a problem with it.
I have to show ID to vote and am OK with doing that.

I get what you are trying to argue here. If you want to discuss the concept of voter ID and why it exists, thats cool, but dont try to tie it to my comment since that comment is about law and not concept.
If there is a place with high in person voter fraud, ID certainly will help reduce that fraud. If someone wants ID to be shown simply because that will reduce participation in groups they dont want voting, thats messed up.

Except nobody or no organization is trying to do that. It's been alleged by conspiracy theorists, of course, but never any proof.

Attempts to reduce participation of certain groups, such as literacy tests and poll taxes, are a thing of of the long ago past.

If you have to have an ID for virtually everything else in life, why the hell wouldn’t voter ID be the same? What if they quit checking ID for alcohol? Would that be a good thing?

I hope this is the case but you're more confident than me. I see a lot of educated people let their kids have iphones at 11 or even 10 years old and I'm just blown away by it. It's less common, but at the soccer field or baseball fields where there is an actual playground I will see 5 adn 6 year olds watch an iphone for basically an entire game rather than watch the game or go play on the play ground.

Uh...
Reducing ballot boxes in specific locations reduces participation of certain groups.
Consolidating specific polling locations and reducing poll workers in those locations reduces participation of certain groups.
And more and more, but I have a feeling this is wasted breath.

If you want to talk about something thats not happening- its in person voter fraud. The very thing that showing ID is meant to stop just isnt happening in states where it isnt required.
Again though, I show ID and dont think twice because my state thinks it helps ensure voting security and I want elections to be secure.

What are you arguing here? I said I accept showing ID to vote. Actual data shows it doesnt improve election security, but it doesnt seem you want to focus on that.

So, having a valid ID you can scan and confirm is not better than being able to walk through and vote as many times as you want?

Is there proof of this happening? If so, sure that should be looked into and we can discuss. I would say ahead of time that no, I dont think people should be able to walk through and vote as many times as they want.
Lemme know where this is happening. Look up examples of people who have voted multiple times- it wont be good.

And how have I killed this thread? I posted that showing ID to access something that is only for those of legal age makes sense.

Is it going poorly? If so, list examples of how it is going poorly.
What widespread voter fraud has there been due to mail-in laws? Are people voting dozens of times?...is this the old claim of dead people are voting?

I dont want illegal voting and would support measures to ensure actual voting concerns, based on real issues and not perceived, are addressed.

Even you can’t be THIS stupid. My god, I’m gonna spare my thumbs the torture of a response.
