I was drinking well before HS. But many high IQ folks have a lot of issues and drinking is the easy starting point for them.

If they wanna find out about IQ levels fluoride would be a good place to start. Most likely they are gonna state that higher IQ is a sign of white supremacy or racism or something silly

Very interesting subject, I know I've seen this play out a few times. High IQ folks tend to have an extremely active mind and often need a way to quiet that. I'd suspect the increase in income and/or time available for leisure plays a role as well.

I might be wrong, but I think we have more important things we should be studying than whether we should control adolescence another way.

I drank enough to lose brain cells, become less intelligent, and thus stopped drinking and started posting on this damn message board
I noticed the study did not mention the loss of brain cells due to alcohol consumption, which would factor into lower IQ later in life.
A smart man knows "beer is proof God loves us and wants us to be happy".
I tried to teach my children that while one's having a high IQ is nice, NEVER confuse it with one's being wise.
I've heard that about bacon, too. So that's 2 things that prove it, must be true.
Is it against your Christian faith, preacher, or do you just not want it/like it? I've always wondered how protestant pastors felt about alcohol, because growing up Catholic - that wasn't a thing I ever thought about lol
For me, I am completely 100% in favor of freedom to drink alcohol as long as it is in moderation, principally meaning you don't harm yourself or others as the result of drinking. I even preached a sermon about that in seminary.
