...and I'm holding back.. I was at home, but I've attended several bowl games. I absolutely would NOT devote the resources necessary to attend one of these games to (A), watch a team other than the one I pulled for all year, and (B), watch a key player take a powder right in the middle of it. Ain't gonna happen.

And as bad as our defense was yesterday, we're losing most of our playmakers , so expect it to be worse next season

Unfortunately, you are correct. Watching their #7 on D and the Penn State DB's makes me realize all the "talent" we are losing is okay but not superior. Their DB's were around every catch made for instant tackles or deflections without interfering. They play with a Sht ton of energy. We had little fire back there yesterday. And God love Debo but how many wrong gaps did he pick opening up gash openings. Same with Stewart- he wants the sack not the stop. it hurts when he bails out totally without regard to the simple hand off to his side. Burch used to do that too. Drove me crazy. If we had D-tackles we wouldn't have to crash every play.

I concur, if not playoffs, then screw a bowl game. All, well most of the momentum and positive outlook shot in one unnecessary game with fans and nationally.

We disgraced the school, the program, the fanbase, the state, and the league.

This is my concern as well. I felt like this program was finally making progress this year and becoming competitive. If we can’t sustain this next season and continue to improve, it will be just more of the same mediocrity. I truly hope that I an wrong.

I think we were significantly out-coached. Beamer is still immature and the cutesy fake plays fool nobody anymore.

With the current system - portal, unlimited transfers, unlimited years of eligibility, NIL, etc. - I don't know how anyone can build a team and then a program and expect any sort of stability. Probably why Saban retired, Kelly left UCLA for an OC position, Elliot left Ga St as HC and took the OL coach position here and on and on... Who can manage chaos?
It seems like success for a lot of programs will be similar to what we saw here this year - unexpected and likely short-lived.

One thing about it, we made all the highlight reels through the weekend.

Success will be more of what we see this year, blueblood programs with huge fanbases willing to dumb a sh$tton of money into their programs, ie Ohio St., Texas, Penn st. Notre Dame and Georgia!

Correct.
HC is now the equivalent of being a highly overpaid manager of a temporary employment agency.
Take the money, oversee the revolving door of temporary employees and put on a show for the financiers (''College Football'' Fans).

Well, parts of this year were fun, but we ended it with the "whimper" rather than the "bang". But since I don't really care for basketball or baseball, and we made the predictably lazy and underwhelming Shula hire, I guess I'll see y'all next season for the pre-season undeserved optimism that our team is looking strong after only playing themselves, only to be humbled in game 1 with procedural penalties and predictable and sluggish offense until we show some life and win an upset that makes us feel better than we are. But, again, that's the life of a gamecock fan.

I doubt anyone could do a better job of disgracing Richland County and the City of Cola than they do themselves.

Masters of the art.
The fact that we could do it as a football team is a testament to the ignominy of this performance.

Don`t think we disgraced anyone. One of our players actions shouldn`t represent the entire team or program. What was a disgrace was Bret Bieliema - I will never forgive him for his classless actions. Beamer was the bigger man to shake his hand after the game - he had every right to just walk off but took the high road instead.

Looking back at what caused it, I think it was Bush league on Carolina's part. When you extend your arms out like Juju did, it's like a fair catch albeit an unwritten rule. Being cute is what cost Carolina the game.

And the refusal of fans to attend is what it's going to take to change things. I feel like this is only the beginning and some players will start to option out of some or all of their last season. I recall some people were whispering in Clowney's ear about forgoing his entire junior season. Thanks goodness he did not.

For a very brief moments, I checked on flights from Bozeman to Orlando and considered flying down for the game with my teenaged son. I am SOOOO glad I didn't. I don't think I will ever again invest time and money into a bowl trip again. There has always been a risk of losing the game, of course, but when you don't even know which players will sit out days before the game, it's just too much risk for the consumer.

If you can build a full-sized golf/Disney/Beach vacation out of a trip and want to devote one day of it to a bowl game, then maybe it still makes sense, but the game itself will never be the main attraction again.

I hope and pray that the day comes when we can look at it differently, but some wise and heretofore unidentified leadership, visionary leadership, will need to emerge to bring it about. Right now, we're groping around in a dark wilderness, Brother.

Even if you drive to Orlando from South Carolina and spend two nights and three days going to the game it is still easy to drop a couple thousand on the trip. If some of the top players don't think enough of the game to play, or play the whole game, why should fans care enough to go? There is nothing at all special about going to a bowl anymore, 92 teams play in bowl games each year, what is special about that?
