For the first time since Austin Davis in 2011, someone that isn’t from State or OM has won the Conerly Trophy for best player in MS - Patrick Shegog from Delta State. At first I was surprised, but he has some pretty impressive stats:

Passing:
188/300
32 TDs
2 INTs
2,618 YDS
218 Y/G

Rushing:
12 TDs
690 YDS

He is also the first non-FBS player to win the trophy since Juan Joseph at Millsaps in 2008.

Cleveland stand up!

If he's from the Shegogs of Panola Co.? When i played HS ball back in the 80's, south Panola had a team full of Shegog's. They were some big ol atheletic dudes. I'm pretty sure one of them played at State, Andre??? He was a TE and DE end at SP and I was a DE and considered to be somewhat "big" by the standards back in the day 6'1" and 190lbs. After they beat us soundly, he came to me after the game and said "good game little man". There was nothing i could do with him, he was huge.

Yeah, he played at South Panola. He was committed to Tulane at one point. The kid is a baller, fun to watch. Unfortunately, lost in second rd of playoffs to Valdosta State. Valdosta just always seems to have DSU’s number.
