Western Illinois is leaving the Summit in July and Missouri Valley Football Conference after the 2023 football season for the Ohio Valley.
The Leathernecks generally weren't seen as much of a factor in the Summit or MVFC in recent years so it could be seen as addition by subtraction for them.
The OVC likes the move because it strengthens a conference that schools have left in the past few years.
