I know he got banged up against Utah and was limited, but when healthy, Caleeb Williams’ ability to escape pressure, scramble and throw on the run with accuracy is impressive.

Last time Penn State had a weapon like that was Rashard Casey, and QB coach JayPa drew a 15-foot radius behind center during practice and told him not to leave that circle.

Well his arm cost his team ultimately as he thought he was Mahomes or Josh Allen.

Lincoln Riley looks like he has skinny jeans on, kinda creepy looking.

smh. You say that as if it were a mistake by PSU, or a misuse of his talent by PSU.

PSU knew the strengths of Rashard. However it was Rashard, his family, and his HS coaches that wanted him to be used as a more traditional QB in college. Their calculus was that Rashard was always going to be a good scrambler, but that he needed to improve in the more traditional aspects of QB play to make it to the NFL. This was expressed repeatedly during his recruitment, and reinforced by Rashard, his family, and his HS coaches during Rashard's time at PSU. JoePa and staff agreed to this during his recruitment, and did their best to live up to the agreement during Casey's time at PSU.

USC up 42-30, with 7:30 left in the game. USC with the ball, and they are just past midfield in Tulane's half.

Tulane with a quick response, and after the PAT it's 45-37, USC, with 4:07 left in the game

This is exactly why you don't want to draw a Gof5 in a bowl.

This should be a TD and a XP away from a Green Wave win.

8 sec left, Tulane appears to get a TD. The ruling on the field was incomplete, but they are going to video review.

After review, it's a TD.

Game clock moved to 9 sec. 45-45, with Tulane to pick the PAT.

The PAT is good, so it's 46-45, Tulane, with 9 sec left.

Wow

Did Mr. Heisman have his usual saying painted on his finger nails for this game? I couldn’t see.

We did in 2019 and beat an arguably better Memphis team. There are a lot of good teams out there. USC was 11-1 and ranked number 4 before losing two straight here.

Classic Lincoln Riley to be honest. All offense, zero defense. It's going to be tough to put a better offense on the field yearly for him with getting his OU studs to transfer and picking up Addison. Big 10 defenses weekly coming soon as well.

He's got to fix his defensive issues or have an offense that can out score EVERYONE without fail.

Not sure if he's doing the Safety Dance, but whatever it is the mullet makes it better.

I think he'll get there; much easier to recruit top D talent to USC than Oklahoma.

For all of Riley’s offensive ‘guruness’, why would he call a read option with a standstill RB out of his own endzone? You have the Heisman winner, throw your way out of trouble!

Hate to see it…

It's not like he was pulling in 30th rated classes at Oklahoma. It just seems a symptom of the system and game prep and recruiting priorities. Why didn't he portal the defense into a unit as strong as the offense?

Major major kudos to Riley saban etc as well as young and Williams etc for not opting out. Really great to see that they cared about their team and finished what they started!!

He didn’t have the defense at Oklahoma either IIRC - all his top talent was on O.

It's kind of like our recent recruiting classes. Top 10-15, but the DL didn't have a lot of high end guys, particularly at DT.

Go back to Sneaky Pete's run at SoCal. Defenses were dominant some years and still strong in the years they lost 2-3 games.

Until something shifts, the days of relying on dominant defense are probably gone with last years UGA being an extreme outlier. Riley is in the perfect scenario. Great offensive coach, CA recruiting at his fingertips, his ability to recruit national still exists. I think the Big 10 move will help with perception. (I also doubt they ever draw OSU, Michigan, and us on a schedule)

USC has a much bigger and deeper pool of local talent at all positions to recruit from; only nationally ranked top offensive guys were willing to go to OU and that was because of Riley.

And they don't have a built in loyalty to USC either. You got Bama, UGA, OSU, Clemson, Texas, Oregon, and everybody else vying hard for these kids.

Of their '23 class, they have 8 top 300 type kids. Only 3 of them are defense. Just sounds like his priorities are going to make improving the defense tough.
