Last time Penn State had a weapon like that was Rashard Casey, and QB coach JayPa drew a 15-foot radius behind center during practice and told him not to leave that circle.I know he got banged up against Utah and was limited, but when healthy, Caleeb Williams’ ability to escape pressure, scramble and throw on the run with accuracy is impressive.

This is exactly why you don't want to draw a Gof5 in a bowl.
This should be a TD and a XP away from a Green Wave win.
What a game! Another fantastic bowl game!THE GREEN WAVE TAKES DOWN THE WEST COAST SURFER BOYS !!!!!
Yup, just when you think you know it all, something like this happens. This game is exactly why playoffs need to be extended to more teams.

We did in 2019 and beat an arguably better Memphis team. There are a lot of good teams out there. USC was 11-1 and ranked number 4 before losing two straight here.
Classic Lincoln Riley to be honest. All offense, zero defense. It's going to be tough to put a better offense on the field yearly for him with getting his OU studs to transfer and picking up Addison. Big 10 defenses weekly coming soon as well.
He's got to fix his defensive issues or have an offense that can out score EVERYONE without fail.
I think he'll get there; much easier to recruit top D talent to USC than Oklahoma.
It's not like he was pulling in 30th rated classes at Oklahoma. It just seems a symptom of the system and game prep and recruiting priorities. Why didn't he portal the defense into a unit as strong as the offense?
He didn’t have the defense at Oklahoma either IIRC - all his top talent was on O.
It's kind of like our recent recruiting classes. Top 10-15, but the DL didn't have a lot of high end guys, particularly at DT.
Go back to Sneaky Pete's run at SoCal. Defenses were dominant some years and still strong in the years they lost 2-3 games.
Until something shifts, the days of relying on dominant defense are probably gone with last years UGA being an extreme outlier. Riley is in the perfect scenario. Great offensive coach, CA recruiting at his fingertips, his ability to recruit national still exists. I think the Big 10 move will help with perception. (I also doubt they ever draw OSU, Michigan, and us on a schedule)
USC has a much bigger and deeper pool of local talent at all positions to recruit from; only nationally ranked top offensive guys were willing to go to OU and that was because of Riley.
