That's been my position all along. No generational talent here. Imminently replaceable. 12 points a game. That’s fine. Nobody from this team is indispensable or a building block talent. I’m skeptical about Paris, but let him build his own team.
"Struggle," as in not making the tournament and losing about half of our games?Easily the best player on our team. It'll be hard to replace him through the portal. Maybe if Malachi Smith comes. Otherwise, it's looking like we will struggle next season.
I think we have an excellent chance of losing half or more of our games. But surprises happen. Iowa State this year comes to mind."Struggle," as in not making the tournament and losing about half of our games?
No, struggle as in not anywhere close to consideration of the tournament and losing more than half of our games and finishing near the bottom of the SEC."Struggle," as in not making the tournament and losing about half of our games?

I don't disagree. But, honestly, as a fan, I don't feel like a 10-20 type season is as dissimilar to an 18-14 type season as an 18-14 type season is to a 22-10 type season. Especially if I feel like the 10-20 type season has a chance to build into something greater down the road. There are NCAA tournament teams, there are NCAA tournament bubble teams who end up going to the NIT, and there's everybody else. We have been "everybody else" way too often lately. No, struggle as in not anywhere close to consideration of the tournament and losing more than half of our games and finishing near the bottom of the SEC.
Well, maybe he got something by osmosis. It could happen. But this is his first time putting on his big-boy pants as head man of a major program. This ain't gonna be the same. Before you poop poop coach Paris, take a closer look

It would depend on how we played in that 10 win season. Did we look better at the end of the season as opposed to the beginning? Is there young talent that got better as the year progressed? If we only win 10 games because we lost our best players and the transfers that replaced them weren't as good then I'm not going to be happy. As far as the other, I think I'd always rather be a bubble team than a 10 win team. Who wouldn't want more victories? I want a competitive team. A 10 win team doesn't sound very competitive and would be no fun to watch.I don't disagree. Don't be so negative... I think we have something special... Anyone who would drive 5 to 6 hours to Columbia, from Tennessee and go through Atlanta traffic to want a job in Columbia says a lot about the person's character and work ethic...Well, maybe he got something by osmosis. It could happen. But this is his first time putting on his big-boy pants as head man of a major program. This ain't gonna be the same.
Do you work for them or something? We've been this route before with other people with disastrous results. I like this young man but saying ain't doing and hoping ain't having. This project will have to prove itself out and it's not being negative to say so.Don't be so negative... I think we have something special... Don't underestimate Coach Paris, I think Tanner stumble onto something... It's the same coach's agency firm that recommended Coach Beamer and former players go behind Coach Beamer...
We didn't use Eddie's firm this time, maybe he is out of the business,
Fogler Consulting was established in 2006. Since then, universities and colleges have turned to Mr. Fogler for insight into the world of collegiate basketball coaching, and for top talent. Since launching his business, he has placed more than 30 college coaches across the nation at all levels of Division I basketball in an unusual search specialty that seems to have high growth potential. A review of just some of Fogler Consulting’s clients reads like a Who’s Who of leading American colleges and universities: Vanderbilt, Boston College, Ohio State, Texas Tech, Rutgers, Penn State, Georgia Tech, Michigan, Auburn and South Carolina, just to name a few.
WOW! You have gotten old and cranky at your young age...Do you work for them or something? We've been this route before with other people with disastrous results. Probably I have gotten crankier. But it has more to do with observation and experience than inherent disposition.WOW! You have gotten old and cranky at your young age...
Holy crap, are we that damn cheap that we didn't offer a charter jet, at the very least plane fare like everyone else ?Don't be so negative... I think we have something special... The way it was depicted in the news conference, Paris jumped in his car and drove the five hours over here for an interview only to be told later that a plane could have been sent. Seems we might have put that closer to the "lead".Holy crap, are we that damn cheap that we didn't offer a charter jet, at the very least plane fare like everyone else ?
That would be Tanner... Tanner should have mentioned that to Paris in the phone call...Holy crap, are we that damn cheap that we didn't offer a charter jet, at the very least plane fare like everyone else ?
Plus he had a small window within two hours to book a flight. Have you see prices on flights... They are not longer cheap flights..The way it was depicted in the news conference, Paris jumped in his car and drove the five hours over here for an interview only to be told later that a plane could have been sent. Exactly. I like Paris and his potential but potential doesn't necessarily mean success. He could do everything right and not succeed here. No one we have hired has had a bad resume. I'd say that Muschamp's resume was questionable because of his failure at UF but Horn, Newton, Sparky, and Scott all had impressive resumes when they were hired. I like that he's out there working and trying to get our biggest basketball recruiting commitment ever. It would give him great momentum moving forward.Do you work for them or something? That's true of all the candidates we or our SEC brethren looked at besides Miller.Well, maybe he got something by osmosis. It could happen. But this is his first time putting on his big-boy pants as head man of a major program. This ain't gonna be the same.
Sounds dubious. I just can't imagine a AD not mentioning "So we'll have a plane waiting for you, and a car to pick you up for our meeting at (set prescribed time), until after the interview. The way it was depicted in the news conference, Paris jumped in his car and drove the five hours over here for an interview only to be told later that a plane could have been sent. Maby he wanted to drive. Come in to town quietly, versus being met by reporters at the gateSounds dubious. I just can't imagine a AD not mentioning "So we'll have a plane waiting for you, and a car to pick you up for our meeting at (set prescribed time), until after the interview.
I would have remitted that back to him. Still cheaper than sending a plane over there and back. Maybe they'll pay for the gas he put in his car and his meals along the way, if that isn't asking too much.Plus he had a small window within two hours to book a flight. Nobody, and I mean nobody would choose to drive I-85 to N-285 to I-20 on their own volition if other options are available.Maby he wanted to drive. Come in to town quietly, versus being met by reporters at the gate
he just landed a million bucks and the opportunity of a lifetime, you think he’s worried about a small road trip and a hamburger?I would have remitted that back to him. Still cheaper than sending a plane over there and back. Maybe they'll pay for the gas he put in his car and his meals along the way, if that isn't asking too much.
I didn't think that anyway once I heard about his voluntary road trip. Why would I? That's no the point. I think that, as AD, I wouldn't let him pay to come over here to be interviewed after having invited him. Would you? I'd cover his receipts.he just landed a million bucks and the opportunity of a lifetime, you think he’s worried about a small road trip and a hamburger?
i hear what you’re saying. but i don’t think it’s a big deal. paris wasn’t an employee of the university at that point. an expense report for mileage would be tacky. and so would tanner handing the man 200 bucks for gas.I didn't think that anyway once I heard about his voluntary road trip. The tacky part would be not handling by any means his transportation over here. No one is a "university employee" before he/she interviews for a job.i hear what you’re saying. but i don’t think it’s a big deal. paris wasn’t an employee of the university at that point. an expense report for mileage would be tacky. and so would tanner handing the man 200 bucks for gas.
Honestly can't believe this is seriously being discussed.... a case of much ado about nothing. Without even making a phone call, I can assure that whatever expenses were incurred on his trip, Paris was reimbursed for.The tacky part would be not handling by any means his transportation over here. Have you noticed the relative dearth of activity around here? I enjoy minutiae when nothing much is going on. Keeps me busy. I'm in for the night.Honestly can't believe this is seriously being discussed.... a case of much ado about nothing. True. But we did have a good series win against Vandy today that no one seems to want to talk about.Have you noticed the relative dearth of activity around here? I enjoy minutiae when nothing much is going on. Keeps me busy. I'm in for the night.
I'll talk about it if you want to. Heroic homerun by Wimmer. Still a lot of work to do in order to reestablish respectability. We now have four wins of unquestioned value for the year. We need many more.True. But we did have a good series win against Vandy today that no one seems to want to talk about.

Of course. That lapse bespeaks his inattention to detail.Tanner should have said in the phone call, I'll send a plane for you...
