If a Practice Facility is needed now then why doesnt the Athletic Department work out some deal with the Sanderson that allows the Basketball team to reserve the Auxillary Gym in the Sanderson for 4 days a week.

Can this be done? I have been in the Sanderson many times and both gyms are occupied but some baskets are still open.
This seems like a possibilty.
For those unfamiliar with this the Sanderson has 6 basketball courts. Two of these courts make up the auxillary gym. </p>

...during the expansion of the Hump. Rick blocked out the windows and limited access to the Sanderson auxillary gym, and the team practiced there. The problem is that there is no 24 hr/day place of their own, where they can work on their game without people around playing pick-up games and wanting to talk. The Sanderson has hours, and the hours don't always coincide with the players schedules. There are also specific pieces of conditioning equipment favored by basketball players and coaches, and they aren't always available either at Sanderson or the Field House.

what about that building near sorority row that was converted into a gym about 10-12 years ago. I think it used to be an animal husbandry building or something along those lines.

At the time, I thought that it was being converted to be a practice facility for the basketball teams or possibly a home court for the VB team so that they wouldn't take up space in the Hump.

What type of deal can the AD work out with the Sanderson? The Sanderson is for students and faculty and dues are paid by both. It pissed me off when they had camps in there during the Summer taking up half the courts. If a practice facility is needed then maybe the AD should do its job, work out a fund raising deal with alumni.

I completely agree. I was just saying that maybe they could possibly get on a 4 hour a day, 4 day a week schedule that the players could come in at their own will. This was just a suggestion for a possible temporary fix until the athletic department does something about it. Those camps do suck.

It's used by the women's volleyball team. Also McCarthy Gym is now an indoor tennis (!) facility.
