TOTALLY, TOTALLY AGREE with you. Today's game is not fun anymore, even with a decent amount of success by the "home team".

All parties involved are banking on fans just being mindless zombies and continuing to support the game no matter what they do to it.

The only hope is for fans to lose interest, tune out and stop showing up to games. Sadly, that will never happen. Which means there's no hope for the game. Unbelievably, some fans are actually giving money they worked for to support NIL.

Good thing for me is, I'm 46 and have 7, 5 and 2 years olds, so I should be good and busy until I'm about 60. So I've got other things to do. I'd much rather be on hands and knees playing buckin' bronco with my kids than support this trash.

Agreed. Time for you exit stage left. The bitching and moaning is getting old. You are not finding joy in football. Enjoy your kids while they are young. My kids are the very reason I don't take this too seriously.

I cant remember which game it was this past weekend but I saw a coach being interviewed on the field after the game... he was the winning coach. And you could see his frustration as he spoke on the state of the system now. I cant tell you how happy I was to see that and it waas the first time I felt like changes are inevitable. You cant have a system where the coaches are that unhappy very long.

Ah, but there's the rub. All the coaches lament the changes in the game....but they're all participating. Coaches will lament the portal chaos...and then take players from the portal. Coaches will lament how NIL is impacting the game....but then they go along with it.

Reality is, most coaches are fearful of speaking out directly against the portal or NIL because of how it would impact recruiting. Most will only speak vaguely about changes without directly addressing them. They'll say things like the portal makes it more challenging. They won't say "it sucks. we shouldn't have it. it's destroying the game."

It's all about self-preservation.

And, honestly, coaches are a major part of the problem. Coaching salaries are a major factor in what drove us to NIL and the portal.

See that's what made me feel a little different when I saw this coach. As I said, you could see his frustration. It was clear he did not like the direction football has taken. And he did it on national TV at the end of a championship game... which is exactly what we need to see if you want to see change... imo anyway

Coaches have to do their job. Coaches aren't going to jeopardize their seven figure salaries by complaining too loudly. Until things get bad enough that fans stop watching and attending and a number of coaches including a big name coach walk away and blames it on NIL and transfers and the general state of college football nothing is going to change.

Fans are the enablers here. As long as fans keep throwing money at college football no one is going to walk away. I honestly can't understand anyone sending money they worked for to an NIL collective so some prima donna athlete will play football at the school they pull for.

It boggles my mind. Show me a fan who gives money towards NIL and I'll show you a fool.

Judging by the tone on this thread it becomes apparent that the article was not read thoroughly or not read at all. The lawsuit challenge is to allow transfers to no longer sit out 1 year. The lawsuit will ease the transfer rule further, not limit it's scope.

Yes. I think the tone of the thread reflects that. At least that's how I understand the article. It will make the current portal situation look comparatively calm and stable.

I think the portal and NIL is similar to LIV golf…both are going to destroy their sport. There will always be fans…but some are going to throw up their hands and say I have had enough!

I think a step in the right direction would be to limit the scholarships. How is it reasonable for the NFL to operate on a 53 man roster but we're allowing CFB teams to have 85 scholarships and 15+ walkons? Limiting the scholarships will immediately spread some of the higher talented recruits out more. It will also slow down the portal activity. I'd probably keep G5/FCS at 85.

March Madness would basically become a combine for players to audition for other programs.
Yeah, that's why I don't see if happening. The NCAA gets around $850M just from the media contracts for the MBB tournament. They're not going to do anything to jeopardize that.

As far as I can tell, the NCAA loves the chaos.

What other choice do coaches have? If they don’t participate in this madness… As for the salary, are they supposed to turn down the money?
