Could our men’s team make 41 straight FTs in practice?

A group of middle aged, out of shape, white guys just pulled it off overnight in Chicago… as an attempt to tie the NBA record for 41 straight.

Rules were 5 guys have to make at least 2 straight… and a below avg shooter had to make #15, 30, and 41.

If Tolu or Mook had to be the below avg guy… how many shots would it take?

When a basketball player is unable to make free throws, especially a player that is an otherwise solid shooter, it's wild to me.

It's like the one thing basketball related that I'm actually pretty good at, so I figure if I can do it, it should be pretty easy for somebody who actually plays the game.

When Dickie V was regularly calling games for ESPN he’d be out on the court a couple hours before the game and drop 50 or 60 in a row.

there have been videos of college and NBA coaches like Doc Rivers blasting the AAU circuit for this very reason. They don’t work on fundamentals. They play 6 games a weekend and have one midweek practice. Doc said when he his son was playing it used to frustrate him because they wouldn’t even shoot between games as to conserve their energy for playing 4 or 5 in a row.

Most of these guys know how to dribble, dunk and shoot a 3. They don’t care about anything else

What is the 41 straight record? One player made 41 straight? Or did a team make 41 straight?

Team record. They were doing it as a team event for a DraftKings sponsorship.

Was a fun watch at the end. I watched for an hour or so last night and woke up to them finishing it this morning. Took 16 hours and nearly 10,000 attempts.

The winning 41 had 2 former D1 guys, an NAIA guy, a special needs guy, and a 5’5” millionaire with a bum shoulder from Boston.

in a row???? If you take out Hubbard, our team couldn't make 41 free throws period, if you gave them all night.

Interesting. Making 41 in a row is not easy, but I guess I expected the NBA team record to be more than 41 straight.
They even had Pat Beverly helping for a few hours and never got past 30. He had to leave for a game in Milwaukee tonight.

We couldn't make 41 straight if the hoop was a 50 gallon drum.

I believe the statistical chance of our team making 41 free throws in a row at least in game situations is our percentage of .676 to the 41st power which is 0.0000001 or 1 in 10 million. So, yeah, there's a chance our team could do this.

(And, yeah, I realize it would be different in a practice situation.)

It's wild to me, and I suck at free throws.

I’m just surprised as much as players like scoring that players, particularly post players and slashers, don’t spend as much time on free throws as anything.

I once watched Calvin Murphy make 85 in a row. But he lost the bet, which was whether he would make 100 in a row. It was still impressive.

How many times have we made 4 in a row in a game?

I count once...maybe twice
