Overall this season IMHO there is some really good improvement. Are they perfect... No. I was one with serious questions on the players and coaches on the Oline starting this season. Still room to grow and get better but overall I think we all had some questions about the oline and coach Trautwein coming into this season. Really banged up last weekend with 3 starters out and they had a solid day at Indiana opening up holes in the run game and good pass protection. Ola Fashanu is turning into a potential top 10 draft pick, Scruggs is really solid as a leader and starter. Tengwell is developing into a very good player for young player. Shelton and JB Holmes both played solid last weekend. With some very good recruits coming in next year. Finally developing some talent and depth on the OLine. So just wanted to admit I had questions on this part of the team and IMHO I think they deserve some credit.

I have always maintained that Traut isn't the problem. It's the level of talent he has had to work with. Hopefully our OL recruiting will improve.

Watching the Michigan and Ohio State games, I saw the Penn State O-line get tossed around like rag dolls....

Fair point and I agree. Although they handled OSU much better than Michigan. Michigan game was just bad on both sides of the ball for a myriad of reasons. But I am also not going to ignore all the other games and teams this season. They have played well for the most part. More talent is on the way next year along with depth/competition. I didn't say they were perfect but I am seeing improvement and as others have said talent is improving so I look for their trajectory to continue to go up next year with many of them returning.

Coaches are just glorified gym teachers who specialize in one discipline. The BWICAC works incessantly and relentlessly to expose our coaches as well......overpaid frauds. Posts such as this are counterproductive and have the potential to create dissension in this well meaning group of dedicated individuals. Coaches are and should be expendable and never are they worthy of praise.
Everyone here should be guided by the first commandment of the BWICAC, "WE DESERVE BETTER."
I'm astounded that this unfortunate post has not been scrubbed by the board censors.

actually, our OL played very well v Indiana, given that we missed 3 starters as the KO, and then lost a 4th OL player during the game. putting together a functional OL in short order. the fill in players were Fr/Soph age, which shows we have been doing some good recruiting. many 4* players on the OL depth chart and more coming.

Seems to me we have been saying “more talent is on the way” for at least 5 years. When will it finally arrive?

Yea I don't think Limey left him a lot to work with and then well the covid thing. I think he's done pretty well.
iirc he left him Rashead Walker, Mike Menet and Will Fries, all NFL draft choices. Plus Bryce Effner, Mike Maranda, and Caedan Wallace. He has had plenty to work with, expect he is in over his head. No way PSU should be hiring someone in that position for OJT. That said, he is learning.
