Many in the trenches down in southern Florida say that Donna Shalala did tremendous damage to the Miami football program during her tenure. Now, the current President and BOT probably do not want to let go of the control they have over the football program. Unless that control is loosened up Mario Cristibal will not succeed not succeed at Miami.

Yeah, they aren't handling this well. Apparently, Diaz is out recruiting for da U today.
I am not a fan of the Miami football program but now I feel some sympathy for Diaz. Publicly going after another coach while you still have yours -or at least not quelling a public report -is pretty low.

That's pretty low of the Canes.

Maybe Diaz has a good chance to be retained as a DC or OC (not sure which he was)? Not as bad of a look if he's retained.

There is no world where Diaz could stay on like that. Can you imagine the new coach coming in to undo all that Diaz built with Diaz as part of that staff?

Fickle is the only former head coach I can remember who stayed on staff (OSU), but he had only had the interim label.

I have a kid at Miami so have been following their team over the last few years - yes, it wasn't pretty keeping Manny while looking for Cristobal but there were a lot of moving pieces and at the end of the day they got who they wanted (and Manny gets some going away money too). It's amazing what can happen when some billionaire boosters start writing checks. With the clock ticking and possibly Phil Knight getting his checkbook out as well, it was what it was. But they got their guy and this is pretty much a last go at it for the U - if this doesn't work out maybe they can start over with Al Golden.

Didn’t Diaz dump Temple for Miami?

He was offered a job accepted and then went Miami. He was upfront during the process and told them that if Miami offered he would take it (Temple simply offered first and Miami a few days later).

To me that is a big difference than what a organization does to a sitting coach.

I watched the PAC-12 championship game on Friday night where the announcers continuously made mention of Cristobal down playing his trip to Miami where he went to see his sick mother and it had nothing to do with interviewing for the head coaching position at Miami...How much of a b.s. story is that and how bad does that look on Cristobal? Given the way his team played on Friday night, it must have been obvious to them that both JoMo and Cristobal were jumping ship...

People get pissed at Franklin for the way he addresses these rumors with the media, but would you rather he make up an elaborate story about his sick parent/sibling/friend to cover his tracks or do what Brian Kelly did where he didn't even inform his coordinators?

It's not a made up story. And it's not the fault of the coaches that these offers are coming at bad times during the season. They could change things/recruiting signing dates to make sure coaching changes are better aligned with the season's end. But they haven't. And in the meantime billionaire boosters are cutting checks.

If they do that the rich only get richer Nick, Kirby, Jim, and Ryan would like nothing better to go on a mega recruiting trip after the playoffs. This benefits PSU right now with their class.

So who goes to Eugene?

Franklin? Rhule? Sarkisian? Dabo ? (everyone else seems like they are leaving Clemson).
