Although I whole-heartedly disagree that Croom deserves $1.7M per year for his pitiful track record, Ole Miss set the bar and I think that Byrne had no choice but to match. I understand that Nutt's in his first year of a new job, but Byrne would have been raked over the coals for for giving Croom anything less than equal pay. Maybe not by MSU fans, but he sure as hell would have hear it from the NAACP, ESPN, and pretty much every other newscaster in the county.
