..the one that said the WCO just couldn't be done in college football. Croom said "ummmmmm (really, he said "ummm"), I think it goes to what you believe in. If you believe in the option, you can make that work. If you believe in the spread, you get that done. You believe in something and you get it done."

Later when talking about QBs, he said Tyson Lee has worked himself to 2nd spot. Makes me wonder how Relf has performed. Said Lee has shown strength and accuracy in his passing and can improvise to make plays - making something out of nothing.

When asked if we were going to have a change of pace QB, Croom said this year all of our QBs will be asked to move around more and make more plays with their feet.

Croom also said he likes are WRs as a group more than any he's had since being here.

Says the strength of our defense is at LB and safety. Says Pegues should be one of the best safeties in the nation. Says the defensive strategy will mostly be like last year except we'll have a few more looks.

Its still April, but Croom had me sprouting wool already.

I didn't catch the beginning of the interview, so I don't know if he addressed pistolgate or Brown & AJ.

"Its still April, but Croom had me sprouting wool already."

You do realize Crooms was talking about the players that couldnt score a TD during regulation of the Spring Game dont you?

Apparently, Croom has been lying to us for 4 years when he said he believes in the WCO.

If the WCO "working" means 300 yards per game then yep, Crooms is the master. Too bad 80-90 more teams in college football tend to average 50-100 yards more.

We might average 250 in SEC games

Not really. The Arkansas and Kentucky games saved our per game average. We didn't do much against UAB.

and over half of the DI schools don't play in BCS leagues, your OOC comment doesn't really mean much. I'm not defending Croom or the offense, but very few college teams face the defenses we do every week.

That being said, there's no excuse for not being able to produce on offense after five years.

because if you want to go back and compare conference only stats to the rest of the SEC over the last 4 years, i'll be happy to prove my point. Its about moving the football to give yourself a chance to score, and there is no disputing anything I said

looks even worse. My point is, if you switch schedules with 60%-70% of the DI teams out there and the offensive numbers would be better.

but if you give most BCS teams our schedule, they would still be better offensively

However, if you get back to my reply, it was to state that we wouldnt average near 300 yards not if not for OOC games. And after looking, we still dont (115th @ 297 yards/game). Good Lord man, we were last in our own conference by 30 yards/game to the next team.

Now if you want to put our offense against other conferences, it still wouldnt be any better. You do remember the WV, UAB, and S. Florida games dont you?

And Croom defends his WCO this morning on radio saying that if you believe in the wishbone you can make it go. Well I guess nobody believes in the bone no more , since nobody runs it. Here's what gets me. His mentor, the best coach ever, says in his book he stole what other people we having success with. He went from the T to the pro sytle and then to the bone. Hey Sly, ole Bear believed in moving the damn ball. He didn't marry just one offense. He screwed them all.

Croom also said the WCO worked as long as you had the QB to run it. Again, hey Sly, that makes me feel better, considering Mississippi produces so many WCO QB's and you have such a proven record of signing them.

Bollocks.

a BCS team. I realize the offense sucks under Croom and I understand what you're saying. However, we're not the only team padding stats with patsies.

McCorvey really should have been fired or reassigned and Sly should have hired someone with a background in his offense.

And I wasnt saying we were the only one...it was more of a "just think how damn bad the stats would look without some of the easy teams on our schedule" thought

And that is basically what I dont understand about Crooms. Its obvious to everyone in the free world what we are doing isnt successful, yet he refuses to change. He has worked damn hard and gotten the program at a point where he really could be successful, yet he wont change. His stubborness is going to be his downfall

He should have dumped McCorvey, brought in a dynamic OC and given him the reigns. But he didn't. Now we have to hope the incremental tweaking Croom plans on doing is enough to be effective. What I saw in the Liberty Bowl leads me to believe Croom is willing to introduce elements of different offenses into his precious WCO.

While I do have to say he actually did it, it was only about 4 plays. And our QB had to beg him to run it in the 4th that led to the winning score. We couldnt even score double digits in a bowl game with a month to prepare for a defense. I just think he is too stubborn to change. Guess we'll see this Fall
