Letter to the editor: Local cable TV lacks SEC coverage</span>

<span class="story_inside">I am disgruntled and dissatisfied that our only local cable company, Cable One, refuses to offer CSS to its customers.</span> <table class="clear" style="margin-top: 15px;" align="left" border="0" cellpadding="6" cellspacing="4"> <tbody> <tr> <td align="center"> <embed src="http://adsys.townnews.com/5168812/creative/enterprise-journal.com/+instory1/106639-1196785141.swf?clickTAG=http://adsys.townnews.com/c99018708/creative/enterprise-journal.com/%2Binstory1/106639-1196785141.swf%3Fr%3Dhttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.maxwellcomputers.net" quality="high" flashvars="clickTAG=http://adsys.townnews.com/c99018708/creative/enterprise-journal.com/%2Binstory1/106639-1196785141.swf%3Fr%3Dhttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.maxwellcomputers.net" wmode="opaque" name="106639-1196785141" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" height="600" width="300" allowScriptAccess="never" ></embed>
</td> </tr> </tbody> </table><span class="story_inside">CSS is the primary sports television network that broadcasts many SEC events. For example, the SEC baseball tournament was televised on CSS, but we can't get it through Cable One.

It's frustrating because Jackson, Laurel, Hattiesburg, and many other Mississippi areas do get it on their cable networks. Unfortunately, it's not offered on Direct TV at all - only cable networks. I have written to Cable One asking them why they don't offer it, even at an extra cost, but the company has not responded.

There are only three states that have two SEC Universities: Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi. Therefore, one would think that with two SEC schools, SEC sports would be of great interest to all Mississippians.

Due to our proximity to Baton Rouge, we have LSU fans as well who would like to view CSS. I hope that others will call or write Cable One urging them to make this channel available in our area.

asking cable one on the coast to do anything right is a big request. i lived 1 1/2 blocks from their office and it took 3 1/2 weeks to have my cable turned on. i was forced to walk to the beau rivage every evening and sit in the bar to watch TV. bastards.

I think that Comcast won't let anybody else have it. If you can't get Comcast, I think you cannot ever get CSS.

I get CSS on Metrocast (formally Vista III Media) in oxford. That is not to say that they are not parent/daughter companies. I don't know.

for the right price. But they won't let satellite carry it for any price.

Makes sense. Of course they will not let their competitors have it. I suppose other cable companies aren't competitors.

from several coast cities to enter the field and compete with Cable 1. Look for a mass exodus from Cable 1 customers that are totally pissed at years of crappy service.
