Saw the ending and the refs blew it. They ruled the NIU player caught the ball but did not get out of bounds. He did make the first down so the clock should stop until the refs signal ready for play. There was 2 or 3 seconds on the clock. The timer started the clock before the ref got got out of the way so the center could center the ball. This on the refs as the timer should not have started until the refs got out of the way.
