We have been playing really bad baseball the last two weeks so this is a bit of a surprise. I thought we would possibly fall to #10 at best. I know there are tons of injuries but those playing are even playing really bad baseball right now, particularly defensively. Maybe we will be healthy hitting wise this week and pick it back up but pitching is becoming a concern now. injuries and poor pitching are bad combo

We're not losing b/c of injuries. We're losing b/c our pitching has been dog crap the last 2 weeks. Yeah, we have 1 starter out...but it seems like whoever we give the ball to gets tattooed. You could argue injuries have lead to fielding issues, which hasn't helped the pitching staff. But there's just no excuse for giving up 9 runs per game to AU/UK. I don't care if we had everyone healthy, we're still losing those 2 series.

Walks / HBP are killing us.

We've been bad in all phases, but the sudden drop in pitching effectiveness after the Florida series is truly puzzling. I don't think we've overworked anyone, yet everyone seems off, tired, worn-out, unfocused, et... Cancel the midweek game and take the boys to the beach.

Sander's problem is obvious to me. His motion is jerky, the opposite of fluid, making control a major issue for him. He is basically throwing instead of pitching and our pitching coach should be all over this. Petry was also scouted as a major pitching prospect, maybe he is another option. With our pitching/hitting as of late, we should have saved some of those runs from earlier in the year.

Have to believe they still think we are pretty good and will return to our old selves when Wimmer, LeCroy, McGillis (and hopefully Hall also) return.

I've seen nothing that indicates Hall is returning. Coaches do speak of the others on status. All I've seen is out indefinitely for Hall in an article. Of course, the coaches are not obligated to share any information on anyone.

Haven't seen anything on Hall one way or the other. Sanders is broken, so we need to be looking for other options if two of our starters are not dependable to give you 5 good innings.

Concur 100% on Sanders. Our options are limited, I'm hoping Sanders is moved to bullpen. Won't happen but I can wish.

They are looking at the season as a whole, not just the last two weeks - as it should be. There’s just a lot more season to look at right now, so the swings in rankings aren’t as great as they are earlier in the year.

Hopefully they get back on track. Clearly the team has it in them to be very good. Seasons are long, there’s always time!
