Two years ago they make it to the Finals and choke against the Heat. Last year they're the #1 seed and lose the in 1st round. This year, disappointing as well.

I say their nucleus just isn't nuclear enough. Blow it up?

I like Dallas a bunch also. But I tell you this man. I don't know how I became Spurs fan but it happened back in the early 90's with the worm. I was playing MPSA ball at the time as an undersized forward.
I led H.A.(Columbus) with rebounding since Jr. High, Best Defensive player awards.....Played biddy ball in St. Tammeny Parrish, LA against Pistol Pete's son. I hooped on public courts with the my bruthas from another mutha 24/7.

Guess someone can say that basic skills was what got you playing time. Blocking out, hustle, free throws and the most important thing DEFENSE.

And at the time we had the Bulls and Jordan which was more offense etc....but the Spurs have had the hard nose for a while.

Then came the Mavs...and Dampier....and I cheered for them ever since. But the thing that got me was how the Dallas Mav. org. kept Dampier around and showed faith in him. For MSU will never have a center like him again.

And for Dallas to have the patience with him showed that they believed he was the difference maker; the big man, the Shaq, the Jabar....etc.....They had their chances recently like you said...but Saga has ended tonight.

I will take another shot of patron please.

Find a center that doesn't suck.

Second move?

Find a point guard that's not old balls and past glory.

Third move?

I dunno. Two HDTVs per locker to watch after they drop another turd in the playoffs?

Yeah its time to blow up the Mavs, the Suns, and the Nuggets. All those teams are fatally flawed. They are just good enough to compete for or get to the playoffs, but not good enough to compete for a championship or make any type of significant playoff run. They should trade away as many guys as they can and get some young guys and draft picks in return.

sesh is dead on. dampier is awful. no way he should be the starting center for team eying a nba championship. cuban needs to make sure that jason kidd will never step on the court with a mavs jersey on ever again. that guy is way past his prime....and he might be the worst shooter in the league. they need to make a big time trade and get a lottery pick. and with that pick get a chris paul or steve nash. logic says keep josh howard because he is the only one on the team that seems to know how to play defense. but then again what do we have besides him and dirk? and who in the hell would give up a lottery pick for kidd and terry? dirk is definitely not going anywhere. i also expect cuban to field a playoff caliber team next year too. but who knows? expect avery to be gone by the end of the week (though i don't think thats the problem at all).

Avery Johnson is gone.. either Howard or Terry is gone (but not both).. Terry has a monster contract though and he'll be hard to move (about $41M over the next 4 years).. they really screwed up when they gave up Desagana Diop.. over the long haul he's more valuable than Dampier and they probably can't get rid of Dampier bc of his contract ($10M, $10M, and $13M over the next 3 years).. Kidd is on the books for $21M next year so he's probably not going anywhere.
Stackhouse ($7M), Shawn Bradley ($5M), George ($2M), Michael Finley ($18.5M...they're still paying him?!) and a bunch of other benchwarmers come off the books after this year so they'll have some money to spend. And they've got Brandon Bass next year at a really cheap price (less than $1M).

The Suns, Mavs, and Nuggets all won around 50 games in an impossibly tough Western Conference. They all have defensive flaws but they are not so far away that a player or two can't make a huge impact. Look at the Lakers with Pau Gasol. Trading for old farts like Kidd and Shaq is pretty stupid though.
