I hope you are happy. You have destroyed baseball at Mississippi State. How can Coach Polk be successful with what you have done to him? Having a great tradition, an awesome stadium and venue to play, and being in the top 5 in attendance every year will only get you so far. Its not about coaching and recruiting. Its about what you have done to us. We cant keep up with the Vandy's, Kentucky's, and Mississippi Rebels anymore. Vandy pissing on us this weekend is because of you.

whoever the next coach is needs to be a lot more creative than Polk in this regard. There are a lot of coaches that have to play by the same rules that seem to be doing OK. See Ole Miss.

Instead of working within the frame of the rules, Polk chose to ***** to the NCAA.

Spoke with a State fan yesterday, and he seems to think that the reason the NCAA is pissing on baseball all the time is that they're based up in the Midwest, with strong Northeast ties, and they don't seem to understand how big college baseball is down South. Up there, the colleges are snowed in most of the baseball season anyway, the major population areas have Major League baseball teams, and most of the major conference schools only have a few hundred people attending any one game (if that many).

If you're going to take away men's scholarships for Title Whine, take it away from Communist football or Volleyball.

I wouldn't have a problem with taking scholarships from football and giving them to baseball. The NFL gets by with 48 man rosters (I think) why do colleges need 85? You could take 10 of those scholarships and give them to baseball. This would level the playing field with states that have Hope scholarships, and I doubt seriously football would even miss them. Look how many football players come and go with a free ride for four years having hardly seen the playing field.

and THAT`s the reason they don`t want to give more schollys. With more scholly`s they are afraid the disparity between warm weather schools and cold weather schools would widen in baseball. Now where the hell Oregon St. fits in this , I ain`t sure.

how many scholarships hockey teams get?

College baseball is pretty big mainly in the South- SEC, Conf-USA, ACC, and most of the Big 12 teams are all pretty strong conferences. The Sun Belt, Southland, and OVC are not bad either.

College baseball isn't all that popular out west, but that do have some pretty good players and are able to stock some pretty good teams- mainly the PAC-10, Fullerton, and Long Beach State.

I do think college baseball could be a lot more popular in the Midwest- Wichita State, Nebraska, and Missouri are all pretty good programs- and in Big 10 territory- Notre Dame, Michigan, Minnesota, and Ohio State are all not bad- but those schools don't market it as well as we do in the South.

Honestly, that is Polk's greatest contribution. He went to a school in the SEC that wasn't a football school and gave the alumni something to support, and then everyone followed suit. Now I would say that the SEC is the best college baseball conference in America top to bottom. For years it was the 6-PAC (PAC-10 South).

that it is A LOT LESS humid in Corvallis than Ga. or Tn.- anywhere.

They do have nice weather- especially in the summer.

First of all they get to Buy who they want, draft considered, and then, if someone gets hurt, they can buy someone else. 48 vs 85 not comparable, especially where many of the 85 are in training.
