While not comparable at the moment, I have concerns about the Niners making a similar mistake with Purdy next year. Getting $50-60M/yr on his next contract only for him to drop like a rock the day that CMC, Kittle, Trent, and Deebo either get moved or retire.

I really hope Shanahan and Lynch move on from Purdy instead of paying him. He's not worth where his value will be "slotted".

I want them to draft Jalen Milroe.

I doubt that happens as far as “dropping like a rock”. Shanahan has gotten outstanding QB production from slobs like Nick Mullens and Jimmy Garropolo….as well as Sam Darnold and others. Purdy will be fine as long as he stays in SF.

Of course, maybe that’s another reason to maybe not pay him. But you can’t end up with another Trey Lance if you don’t.

Seems to me very few of them are. QB salaries have gotten ridiculous. You better be sure he’s the guy if you’re gonna commit that much money or it’ll destroy the team

Purdy has looked pretty pedestrian this season with the number of players injured. If they give him the huge contract they’re going to have to cut payroll and get rid of some of those guys.

Well he’s currently 5th in the league in QBR and 6th in passer rating. If that’s pedestrian, I think any NFL coach or GM would sign up for it every Sunday….especially if he’s had a bunch of injuries to deal with.

To be fair, under Mike Will was probably ranked that high in the FCS. Good QB, but not a QB that will win you a championship.

He wasn’t, and Purdy just last season went to OT in the Super Bowl against the guy who will probably go down as the best QB ever in NFL history. Purdy is plenty good enough to win a championship. FFS….Nick Foles, Brad Johnson, and Trent Dilfer all have Super Bowl rings.
