Why not more discussion of this great young QB? I get he won't be here for a while (2024 recruit), but it shows Beamer is looking long term.

Call it an SC bias, or whatever, much more excited about sellers than reno

no offense to reno, but I dont see him being physical enough to survive the league

i will say....have you guys seen Doty later, that dude looks like a beast he will surprise some folks next year once Ratt is gone

Hide & watch what Sellers becomes. The whole football world will be kicking themselves for not giving him the full court press in recruiting.
Lets hope so. The point is that while most qbs want to be "the guy" in their recruiting class, they aren't usually that scared off by QBs in prior classes. They know a team has to have qbs on the roster. And if that guy is so good, they can do a redshirt year to put two years in between and a player that good is probably leaving early for the NFL.

Note: In 2005, Texas was excited about a commit from 5-star Ryan Perrilloux. No one cared about our other commit, 3-star Colt McCoy. Perrilloux flipped to LSU at the last minute, but probably did his best qbing on a prison team. Colt McCoy was two time consensus All-American and won the Davey O'Brien and Maxwell awards and still is playing in the NFL today (17 years later).

Look, this is the SEC. Examine the qb room at Bama and Georgia. They are loaded yet kids continue to sign, enroll and compete. So it’s nothing unusual to have the situation we have now. It’s the norm for top tier SEC programs. Granted the portal puts it in a different perspective but I see it as a sign we are moving on up. Two years ago we had a grad assistant under center.

While we're on the topic. This is from Sports Talk:

USC 2024 commitment QB Dante Reno said Friday he has not yet decided if he will enroll next month. “We are going to see how everything plays out after bowl game now.” USC has 7 QBs now, so Reno is waiting to see what attrition there might be after the bowl game.

The 7th is Sellers. He intends to EE. I don't want to lose Reno, but it's seems smart to check the landscape after the bowls.

Hopefully we offer him Lasic surgery, so he doesn't have to play with the specs. there is something very calm and cool about his confidence in the middle of plays. I never could quit figure out why Brady was so so good because it all looked so easy to him. Of course, when you watch tape, you are only seeing the good stuff, but what ive seen on Sellers is he turns bad plays into great plays with such ease. Makes it look easy. Could be special and that would only help Reno. Sellers might play 3 years only then and go to the league, and if you could believe it be a starter rookie in the NFL. that would be awesome for recruiting as well. Hope upon hope.

Reno’s father just helped us land a transfer from Yale. I can’t imagine he’d be too shook over this. We have 4* QBs on the team already. He knew he would have to earn the job.

Sellers is a 3-star, unranked nationally. Reno is a 4-star, nationally ranked. I doubt he is worried.
He’s actually a 4 star on On3, the same and only site that ranked Nick E a 4 star while the other sites was scared to. I’m just saying. I doubt you find a QB that had better numbers than Sellers in any state.

Exactly, any decent team you go to there is going to be competition and this is just college! To be the man you have to beat the man! Or go into the portal

Perriwho? He struggled on and off the field. That terrible word…. Potential! Reno turned 18 this past September and Sellers won’t be 18 until next June! Having a strong QB room means there’s competition and attrition ! There will be transfers in todays college football. The ones we want will stay and compete and the ones that don’t will leave.

He’s talking about Rattler’s decision, right?

I don’t know either, but did you take that comment to mean he was waiting on Sellers’ decision or Rattler’s? I took it to mean the latter at the time.

When I saw the comment I was sure he had to be thinking about Rattler, but I don't know anything for certain. I posted it because
he has been a steady recruiter for us and I found it odd timing to make the comment. Maybe it was Seller's commitment.
