Regardless of what happens Sunday night, thanks for the great season, the effort and class with which you represent SC, and the hope you give us fans.

I am not gonna lie, I sure do want to see you take home the natty Sunday. You represent what student athletes were meant to be. God bless!

Hope upon hope they do win. A win now would push the program one step closer to that Saban-esque recruiting train where all the best want to come and join the program. In fact, it is not recruiting, it is selecting from the top 30 players nationally every year to fits your one or two needs and then bench development. They better play with grit and hit some 10 ft jumpers and make free throws.

Yes, this.

That is correct. That is what is indicated on the trophy and other characterizations don't cut it. I'm not saying you said otherwise, you understand.
What are you talking about? That's the same trophy every NCAA Championship team gets.

The Coaches Association awards some fancy ball, if that's what you mean.

Well, it doesn't say "trophy" on it either, so what makes you think you can call it that???
What else would I call it? Such objects conferred as recognition for achievement have always been referred to in that way as long as I've been alive, which is getting to be a long time. The same thing applies in making me think a shirt is a shirt. If I didn't already know it was a shirt, the people who sold it to me used that term in selling it to me and my father used the term in referring to similar objects he possessed. None of those folks ever called it a "shirty".

Maybe it’s a new word. I never heard the term “birthing people” until yesterday.

This turned into the dumbest thread I may have ever seen. That’s saying a bunch on G’cock Central. How dare we use slang or acronyms or any other shortcuts on a message board? Before you know it, people will be using acronyms also like FWIW, IMO, etc. FUBAR comes to my mind when reading this thread.

Those are acronyms. The one in question is not only slang, but it is degrading slang that diminishes an ultimate accomplishment..

UCONN did some heavy lifting in eliminating a rematch with Stanford. They are a much better matchup for us.

Let's go!

Agree. Thanks. What a team! What a coach! Wishing my team the very best. I will be there in spirit - could not make it to MSP. Looking forward to the game.

You still don’t get it…..but that’s okay. Being a journalism major, I believe I mentioned slang. And if that diminishes your joy, sorry for you. I will enjoy the Natty along with the National Championship and the trophy. Hats off to those worried about slang on a sports message board.

This team carried the mantle of #1 all season long. A loss would have been tragic. Fortunately, it was a tragedy averted.

A shining example for all varsity sports at USC - compete well, and represent the school well.

“Staley would not commit to getting another dog for this championship. She got Champ following the 2017 title, but said Champ doesn’t get along well with other dogs. If she does get a dog its name will be “Natty.”…….

dang…..what now? She just diminished the value of the title🤔

Or, she thinks "National Championship" is a cumbersome name for a dog. But "Natty" deserves to be a dog's name.
