Jackson State's Deion Sanders wins this year's Eddie Robinson Award for #FCS Coach of the Year, a day after his son Shedeur won the Jerry Rice Award for best FCS freshman. But they didn't make the FCS playoffs. I just can't rationalize all of that. Well, I can, I obviously know why, but it's just kind of a joke.

I would think that too at first glance but it makes sense.

Deion is a Name, Jackson State improved from 4-8 in 2019 to 4-3 in Spring 2021 to 11-1 in Fall 2021, and other possibilities have previously won the award:

They went undefeated against FCS and lost their only game against an FBS team by 5. The only reason they weren't in the playoffs is because the SWAC sends its champion to the Celebration Bowl instead. It's hardly a "joke" that he won this award.
