conference championship (their 11th). They came through loser's bracket and won two games today against different teams. Now THAT'S baseball, Ron.

and would be a huge risk to hire. SEC baseball is different and he probably couldnt recruit SEC-type players anyway. Raffo would be better than him

not getting the respect he's earned. The man has won big everywhere he's coached. Sounds like he doesn't get outworked, and recruits very well. Some say it will be easy for him to recruit div.1 after recruiting div.2 . We need someone to come in and take the team a new direction and starting with hard work is almost always right. I don't see him as any kind of a risky hire, but I have been hoping for him to be our next coach for a few years. Winning a NC, working harder than everyone else, and always winning no matter what level he's coached at makes him a great hire I think. Some other coaches mentioned have much more recruiting areas than we do. We would be a much different program if MSU was thirty minutes from a city of 100.000 plus people, or especially if we were close to a city with millions to chose from. We will never be, so I think we would be better off getting someone who knows how to recruit Mississippi and other states in our region. Like others have said he may not leave DSU. If he does move up to div.1 I hope it is with us.

he doesn't recruit well, which I don't think would be the case, there is no doubt that he has shown that he can develop players.</p>

I have not been real keen on Mike in the past, mainly because I felt we could get a quality, talented, young D1 coach that knew the ropes well at this level. However, now I'm rethinking that a bit. I know this, Mike would be exponentially better than Raffo.

Somebody correct me if I screw up this story but Kinnison gets cut by Boo Ferriss when he walks on at Delta State. Then he becomes student manager and continues to try out for the team and finally makes it. Then he becomes an All American. Then he starts at the bottom...taking a head coach job at Lee Academy and utlimately reaches the success he has currently achieved at Delta State. I see a hell of a lot more drive than pride in what he has done to get where he is. I'm not yet saying that he is the man for the job but what are Raffo's credentials again?

</p>he would keep the Diamond Girls and baseball camp going. And make sure that the old players have their luxury box.
