among college coaches. It just occurred to me that this disease is sweeping through the division one coaching ranks. College D1 head coaches, many if not all, once hailed right here by our esteemed BWICAC have apparently gone to sleep..... only to awake with the ability and knowledge to coach football lost.
In varying degrees....Jeff Brohm (who self assessed) once hailed here as the conqueror of Ohio State, home town hero Matt Rhule hasn't tasted a winning season since 2019.....Luke Fickel, Lincoln Riley, Kyle Whittingham, Mike Norvell, Mike Gundy, Brian Kelly and Mark Stoops all seem infected. Could it be they aren't blessed with an organization similar to the BWICAC to correct their errors? Does this happen to doctors, lawyers, engineers and architects? Or is it unique to the football coaching profession?

C'mon man! Fickel led the Badgers to their first losing season in 23 years.

Speaking of Dementia, Dabo claims he never said he'd quit coaching if the players started getting paid. It has to be Dementia because a man of the Lord like him would never outright lie. :ROFLMAO:

The BWICAC has a broad base of knowledge. Sure, we are the best football coaches on the planet. But on this board I've seen discussions about medicine, law, engineering, and architecture. Examples of each....
  • A player gets injured. We can diagnose the problem simply by watching the video.
  • A BOT member sues the board at large. We can decide if the suit has merit.
  • We hear rumors about what the Beaver Stadium renovation may entail. We then decide if the design is safe and/or if it serves the needs of the fans. "Who designed these restrooms?? They suck!!"
  • If a new building is erected on campus, we get to decide if it fits the campus aesthetic or if should be torn down because it's ugly AF.

Don't forget the Green Egg Smoker and Boilo. Which means in addition to all of the above, we posses the knowledge of the best culinary experts.

You do know if they lose this weekend or the playoff game the same folks will be calling for his firing. The notion that he isn't a high level coach is pretty absurd at this point, but minus a MNC it will be the story for a group of people regardless. Funny thing is one decent poster jumped ship at the wrong time....time to take him off ignore to see his mea culpa that won't come.

Ah, and here I thought you would talk about how it's a sure sign of dementia when someone keeps making the same "don't criticize coaches" posts over and over again.

It's OK to criticize coaches. It's stupid to be obsessively against Franklin. It's stupid to be obsessively against any negative remarks directed at coaches and coaching decisions.

No one participating in these forums has ever coached a team to a loss.

Entering into the playoffs, each team starts with a 8.3% chance of going undefeated.

Where did I say "don't criticize the coaches? "
I disagreed with coach passing as time ran out.
I used to tell my coaches that we can't assume all criticism is bullspit.. just 99.9% of it.
I look forward to the segment of posters who hold their breath and stomp their feet every time PSU gets beat. Amazingly, it's ALWAYS the coach's fault.
We don't get the comics section in the Sunday papers anymore, so I come here

In every post in which you mock people for criticizing coaches … which is just about every single one of your posts. And, shockingly, you’re never able to provide an alternative explanation of what happened. If you knew the game, you could provide a service like Tengwall does … and educate people. Instead, you show no knowledge, but you show plenty of childishness and pettiness, thereby making people actually dislike coaches even more than they already do.

Since when did knowledge of football become a prerequisite to posting here? If my posts "make people dislike coaches more than they already do," I couldn't feel more grateful.

So, you've just admitted you have no purpose here other than to be a mindless troll, and part of the problem. Got it.

Much of the negative reactions to coaches are ephemeral and based on emotion at the time. Some are legitimate and others are over the top. What I'm noticing of late is that the ardent defenders of Franklin (who has done a very good job this year) seem to enjoy "poking the bear" more than they do the results of his success.

I don't buy that totally and the reason I don't as it was all spring and summer so how is the emotion involved in the offseason. People get pissed during the game which is normal anywhere, but well into the spring and summer when people are creating dumb lists about who is a better coach for a job that isn't available....kind of makes you wonder what they are looking at from a national landscape in terms of the health of the program.

Yeah, it’s been a wonderful year and I’ve not responded. M2323 is enjoying this and I’m not one to yuk someone’s yum. But - when considering Penn State’s success (11 wins) this year would most people attribute that to a) new OC, b) Tyler Warren, c) CJF on game decisions, or d) schedule. You can only play the teams in front of you and Oregon will be a big test (we can beat them for sure), but nice that USC is down and we don’t play former annual thorn in side Michigan.

We backed into the playoff and some are acting like we kicked the door down. I can’t wait for this weekend’s game (why not us!?) but OSU gifted it.

As an aside - schools should be way more reluctant to fire coaches going forward; there is no magic bullet in this age of NIL and portal. Used to be a new coach would attract top players but less the case nowadays. Franklin is fine and we’re lucky to have a coach who doesn’t act like most of the other twits around the country.

Hopefully you know more about football than you do the basics of posting, since you just repeated one of your previous posts. Even if you do, we'll never know, so you've chosen to just be a full-time troll.
