Got this in the email inbox. This seems pretty cool.

Farm Bureau Diamond Dawg Classic Details
We're excited to announce tickets to the much-anticipatedFarm Bureau Diamond Dawg Classic, powered by the Bulldog Initiative, are on sale now! This year's Alumni All-Star game is on November 7 at Dudy Noble Field, and Will Clark and Rafael Palmeiro have agreed to serve as managers of Team Thunder and Team Lightning.

Mississippi State Baseball letterwinners from the last twenty years (2005-2025) who were drafted following their Diamond Dawg career, played professionally, or made a significant contribution to the program were selected to become draft eligible for participation. A Team Thunder vs. Team Lightning draft of these players will be announced in the coming weeks.

Tickets are now available for the locations below on a first-come, first-served basis and will be ticketed as general admission within each selected area:

  • General Admission Omaha Club Seats
  • General Admission Chairback Seats
  • Standing Room Only
Click below to purchase your tickets now, and we look forward to seeing you in November at this can't miss event!

PLEASE NOTE: Similar to the recent Hardy concert and Party Animals games, an outside company that specializes in events throughout the region will serve as host and utilize Dudy Noble Field as its venue. Tickets are available exclusively through a partner website, and seating will be offered in a different manner than a traditional Mississippi State Baseball game.

That's a brilliant idea. I have a few questions.

1) Will this be a baseball game or more like the celebrity all-star softball game?
2) Will the players selected (drafted) have already hung up their spikes?

1. I would guess somewhere in between.
2. Interesting question. It would be cool to have some current major leaguers playing in the game.

While it would be cool to see some current major leaguers play, if I'm a current major leaguer, there's no way in hell I am risking my guaranteed multi-million dollar contract to play in an alumni game. Their contracts have clauses about getting hurt in non-team activities.

If this is done right, it has the potential to be a sellout and raise some NIL cash. The Friday before the UGA football game is a perfect time for something like this. The world series ends a couple of weeks prior. So any MSU alums on current MLB rosters that want to participate will be able to (if their contracts allow it). Another idea to raise NIL cash: You already have Clark and Palmero there. Sprinkle in a few more MLB players and State's CWS team and have a post-game autograph session in the Palmero center for another $20 per person. I'm fired up and just bought 4 chairbacks for my family. See you there!

If history is indication, any type of competition between Clark and Palmeiro could get intense
