Did our NIT bubble burst?

I sure hope so. Last projection I saw had us on the NIT bubble, more than likely to get in but a win in the SECT locking it up for us.

A loss wouldn't necessarily drop us out of the NIT. Buuuuuuuuut....

A 22-point pulverizing by a bad team might be enough to make them think twice about extending us an invite.

Personally, I hope we don't make the postseason. For one, the NIT is stupid. For another, this team just doesn't deserve it. For another, making the NIT allows a team to say "well, we made the posteason" as if it somehow validates their season. It's a total false sense of accomplishment.

It should be announced soon that we are parting ways with Frank so we can get the coaching search underway before the tournament begins. I wouldn't even wait to see if we make the NIT.

I hope so too. We ,imo, don't deserve an invite anywhere.

No, we don't. Of all the reasons I listed for not going to the NIT I forgot to mention that it would almost certainly be used by Ray to show that the team is making progress.

Read a blurb that had us on the outside looking in for the NIT now.

At this point, if we make the NIT, that's a damning indictment of the NIT.

The crappiness of the NIT was determined a long time before our suitability arose.
Fully concur. But there are still folks out there who see it as an achievement.

Over on cockytalk, I had rather heated debates with folks who wholeheartedly believed we should play in the CBI (the postseason tournament you have to pay to play in).

I think with all the upsets in the conference tournaments USC got pushed way down the list now that teams like Wake Forest are most likely out of the big tourney.

Why did Vandy get in the NIT?
That's the same question I asked when I saw that they got in. We had a better overall record, better conference record, and beat them head to head. Maybe the forces that be really do hate South Carolina.

Yes, there is a conspiracy to keep us out of the NIT.

Vandy had a considerably higher NET ranking.

What was their OOC schedule like and how did they do? NET also takes into account score margins, as I understand it.

Vandy's SOS was 30 and ours was 40. Not a lot of difference there. Both teams had pretty strong schedules but we won more of our games. I am not a fan of the NET which seems to take into account how you look winning and losing rather than the actual win and loss record.

It is the product of more sophisticated minds than ours. It should not be questioned by the likes of us. Your program has to be structured with the NET in mind - for however long it is a major factor.
