Or did MSU FANS build MSU baseball and to a certain extent SEC baseball?
Didnt MSU fans make Ron Polk a legend?

Think about it....How many championship's did the guy win?
When people talk about Ron Polk at MSU, what do they talk about? The ATMOSPHERE, the facilities. They dont talk that way about Baton Rouge or Georgia...and those folks have CWS rings.
What has Ron Polk done to make him a legend other than have good success at a program that did more to support him than any other program supports its baseball program in the USA?
Ron Polk could have won just as many games as he did at MSU at Kentucky for example, and he is just some schmuch drawing 1400 for a weekend SEC game.

I think Ron Polk should be giving a retirement party for MSU thanking MSU for everything it did for him.

At the end of the day I dont know that Polk isnt a shameless self promoter going around reminding everyone how big of crowds he drew at MSU.

I'm sick of Ron Polk and reading about him, hearing about him on the sportscasts.

I pray after the UARK bludgeoning next weekend he'll go very quietly into that good night and let GB do his job and get someone competent for the post.

this season, and his whole 7 years back for that matter, have tarnished him a little bit. He is now considered a joke to many people, whether the sheep like it or not. He is not looked upon in the same light as a Skip Bertman, and it's a shame, because he could have been.</p>

My feelings on this issue:

Ron Polk is a part of MSU baseball. Ron Polk by himself is not MSU baseball. We had success even before Gregory- RP Patty and Dudy Noble, plus, the first Mississippian to play in the Big Leagues was Willie Mitchell from MSU. We were drawing pretty well before Polk, although he did take it to the next level.

I think what Polk did was instill pride in the program by winning and it made MSU fans proud of the baseball team, and so they came out.

Edited to say that the reason why Polk left Georgia Southern and went to Miami was because of lack of fan support. He took Ga. Southern to Omaha, so I'm pretty sure that he could have won anywhere. The reason Polk came to MSU in the first place was because of the fans and the potential of the program.

We need to move on. Let's not turn him into Bear Bryant. You see where Bama's clinging has gotten them.

We've won 10 SEC championships. 6 before Polk got here and 4 after. For all the hype he's gotten, he's won 4 freaking conference championships in 28 years at MSU. And 1 of those is tainted because we finished 6th in the league and barely snuck into the SEC tournament on the last day of the season and then won the tournament back when the SEC designated the tournament champion and not the regular season champion as the SEC champion.
