Did Saban get CFP director fired for not choosing Bama last year?

Interesting thing about the new playoff. The rule that the top 6 conference champions get an automatic bid is only for the first year or two. With the recent SEC and Big 10 expansion & the impending demise of the PAC-12, look for fewer automatic bids in the future.

Would not be surprised. He's still whining about it.
Bill Hancock will be 75 when the 2025 season ends. His contract is up in 2025. Either he signs a new contract and works into his 80’s or he simply retires.

Saban has about zero power outside the SEC and his power within the SEC has been greatly exaggerated on this board.

Good catch. Though, I think it would be really funny if the Pac dies a year early and we have one chaotic year with a 9-3 MAC or Sun Belt Champion getting an auto-bid and maybe pulling an upset in the first round.

Bill Hancock is nothing but a talking head. He's been paid to spout the talking points of the status quo for college football for the past 20 years and talk against changing the way things work. And when the way things work changed, he spouted those new talking points and talked against the next thing. Rinse and repeat. He's done exactly what his bosses, the commissioners and presidents, have asked of him.

Yeah. Saban bitches about the 9-game proposal with Alabama playing Tennessee, LSU and Auburn and not Mississippi State. Everyone on this board is convinced we'll go with 8 games so Saban won't have to play those 3 teams. We go to 8 games for 2024. Everyone says, see, the SEC is caving in to Saban just like we said. Schedule comes out. Alabama is playing Tennessee, LSU and Auburn and not Mississippi State. Boy, Saban sure bossed them around.

This notion that Nick Saban has some kind of political pull with anyone outside of Alabama athletics is ridiculous.

Yes he's opinionated. Sometimes his opinions are worth listening to, sometimes they aren't. But if anyone thinks he can threaten the CFP committee, much less the director, they've been watching too many conspiracy theory videos on YouTube.

What's he going to do, exactly? Jack and ****, that's what. Ain't nobody except reporters scared of Nick Saban.
