Did that scuffle or whatever you choose to call it between USC and LSU cause Sara Strong to drop both the Gamecocks and Tigers from consideration? ***

No. Do you think she would back down?

Of course not. It has to do with playing time and opportunity to shine. A prep at ANY level will care nothing at all about a singular incident that takes place before they possibly join a squad, that has very little to do with anything - with them OR with anything else. It was a stupid little shoving fit that got blown all out of proportion, that happens very often in MBB and yet gets only a fraction of attention that this one got.

Strong wants to go to a program that NEEDS her the most - this means, that will give her the best opportunity on a very successful program to become a LEADER at the highest stages from the moment she steps on a court for them. That won't be the case at USC like it will be for those other programs. And we've had other star players that we were in the mix for in the past, that chose to go to other programs for the exact same reason, who ended up looking up at our program in terms of national rankings, successes, and championship opportunities.

Both those 3 remaining programs are longtime successful programs that are on the cusp of being a top 10 program - or are already there - who either desperately NEED a big presence on the roster, or who have big presences on the roster but they are not stepping up. South Carolina already have several big presences on the roster who ARE stepping up and have already become leaders, as well as two incoming who are expected to take roles similar to what Strong would take. She is probably being told that her story at South Carolina may possibly end up similar to Sania Feagin's story thus far, and that is turning her off from us......

No. The " scuffle" was overblown and nothing more than a shoving match. The bigger issue was the toxic exchange that went on afterwards between some of the fans. Really personal attacks about players. Not a good look for either side. Not sure that was a factor but if I were a parent, it would have gotten my attention and not in a good way. I was surprised Sarah showed interest in us late in the process. It seemed that she was a lock for UCONN and then UNC started to get some traction. I still think she ends up at UCONN.

Sarah Strong wants to play substantial minutes not developing minutes. Just guessing she will end up at either UNC or Duke. UCONN will have a loaded roster when all their injured players return or she may want to play with Paige Bueckers at UCONN who is coming back for her final year. Just an observation.

Seems plausible. I hope Dawn's way doesn't finally fall victim to instant gratification and NIL bidding wars for the very top prospects.

No, no impact, Mom works in Boston, which explains UCONN. Dad, coaches Sanford about 40 min away from Raleigh and 50 min from Chapel Hill.

She is staying local or going to play near where her mother works. Makes sense to me.

This person thinks the scuffle had something to do with Sara Strong's decision.

Sarah's mother went to Harvard back in the day when she could have gone to any P5 program. So, academics are probably going to be very important in that family. So, I am not surprised with the inclusion of Duke in her Top 3. Her mother lives in Boston. So, UConn is, also, an avenue to be closer to her mother. I would have thought NC State as a possible destination given that her father played there, but not surprised by a home state school like UNC being thrown in there as well. I think us not be included comes down to the depth chart. We already have Watkins and Kitts. Joyce Edwards is coming in. So, there will be a logjam at the 4. Watkins can play the 5 some. That would have helped, but Strong would have had to play the 3 some to get time. She has the shot to play the 3, but she needs some conditioning work to defend at the 3. Sometimes, we just are not the right program at the right time for a particular player.

Chapel Hill and Duke are on a different level academically than UCONN and SC.

If that's the difference maker for the Strong family, it will be one of those two schools.

Good luck at UConn!! They have a burned out grumpy as hell coach that is full of negative energy!! They aren’t the team they once were and will never be the same team again because of their coach!! He needs to retire because he is toxic!

I would think that the way Dawn handled the incident would have scored bonus points for Strongs inner circle To say the incident was overblown is an understatement. Even our own Wellbaum's initial report was of a "brawl " geez . A brawl is when there are teeth falling like chiclets across the floor and blood being spilled, not someone shoved someone else. I have seen worse trying to be the first to the bathroom during intermission.
