Did we really lack offensive playmakers this year?

Carolina had 6 players with 20 or more catches this season. Only Georgia had more at 7. I know the narrative all season was that Ratt only had one receiver to throw to but that may not have been true.

I think we had enough playmakers to make due. However, there's a GIGANTIC drop off from X to the 2nd receiver. Just bc Russell caught 4 balls doesn't make him a playmaker. To me, it's more indicative of the poor job Stepp has done managing our WR room. He was just throwing everyone out there to see what stuck. But if you can't block you can't do much. No other way around it.

Personally I was looking forward to seeing what I thought would be a good year for TE usage with one of the most experienced QBs we have had in a while and a new OC who I thought would use them like they do in the pros. Needless to say I was left disappointed.

Unfortunately they had to stay in and block A LOT!

IMO ... It's more about YAC , total receiving yards and receiving TD's instead of #players with #catches.
