I always think of the image of him on the floor holding the ball when they upset the SuperSonics in the playoffs.

Dikembe . . . what a player. I'll bet his teammates loved playing basketball with him and having him on their team. He played defense, pulled rebounds and blocked shots . . . and didn't seek notoriety for himself.

I was thinking about that earlier. That #8 vs #1 upset was one of the biggest playoff upsets in NBA history, and I remember it fondly. Just a great Cinderella story, and in spite of the fact that he is in the HoF, I don’t know that he’ll ever truly get the credit he deserves for being a defensive force throughout the 90s

Funny I get it. I was genuinely curious, so looked it up and that post he made is what I immediately found. Got busy and didn’t see when he was diagnosed. I didn’t even know he had cancer.
