going back to the BTN visit to PSU camp and DiNardo's comments. He felt our WRs were going to be okay. The WRs certainly seem to not be the major risk that some thought. He also was not over worried about QB and Drew, which seems to be correct.

His other comment was that we did not seem to have the defense for the ground and pound run teams - focusing on UMich.

Haven't recruited the Beef on the interior forever, can't keep recruiting 240-250 pd kids thinking you can add 40-50 pds to the frame. I'm actually surprised WVU didn't just keep pounding it at them.

PSU has repeatedly attempted to recruit larger DTs. The problem is they haven’t had any success. Bryan Breese and Christian Wilkins are 2 that immediately come to mind. The other problem is that it’s probably the hardest position to recruit inasmuch as there simply aren’t that many good ones. All you can do is keep trying.

Ellies was a big kid as a FR but has not grown. We had a few but they did not work out - Brevard (now at Purdue) and Mulbah (now at WVU_ Artis - highly rated but in his 3rd year must not be up to playing. the few we do get don't seem to work out.

Neither Brevard nor Mulbah made a tackle in their week one games. That’s just an objective fact, not meant in any other way.

In the 2024 class, TA Cunningham is 6’7”, 275 lbs, and Liam Andrews is 6’5”, 275 lbs. Caleb Brewer is 6’4”, 295 lbs, but he may play OL.

PSU can keep looking in the portal too.

I thought PSU played well in their first game with a pretty vanilla defensive game plan. Plus Izzard was out of the game.

I don't know how many snaps he played but Ellies played.

On the first WVU TD #91 drove the WV OL in front of him 2 yards into the backfield.

Good call. I thought Ellies had been reported as being out of the game.

It was the first game. I thought PSU played pretty well against a good opponent that really wanted to win. They weren’t playing UT Martin or Middle Tennessee State. The team should continue to improve.

I’m not ready to hit the panic button on our run defense, but I am concerned. Teams change a lot from their week one performances.

They keep whiffing on the 5 star & high 4 star large size DTs who are few and in greater demand. Time to recruit some large size high 3 Stars and develop them like PITT has done.

Just have a couple of hot 🌭 eating contests the week of the Michigan game. Yep, we need to be as successful as Pitt.
