All the non conference games are known. The Big Ten is typically the last conference to release a conference schedule in ice hockey and has been doing it in recent years in August. We’ll probably see the full schedule in the next week or two.I’m trying to plan a trip to catch a game and maybe see a ladies volleyball game on the same weekend but haven’t been able to find the hockey schedule posted anywhere. Does anyone have it? Thanks.
For whatever reason, these schedules have been getting later and later. Pre-Covid they were being released in May and June. Nowadays, it's been mid-to-late June and mid-July. This year seems late even by B1G standards. Some of our conference brethren have announced their OOC slate, but PSU has not done so. That said, here is what is known so far from other schools and conferences:
10/7 @ Long Island
10/13 @ Clarkson
10/14 @ St. Lawrence
10/20 AIC
10/21 AIC
10/26 Alaska Anchorage
10/27 Alaska Anchorage
11/24 Lindenwood
11/25 Lindenwood
1/6 Army
Take it FWIW, but I suppose some dates may change, but that's all we have to with at this point. I don't know why this is taking so long. I also don't know if what is known is "all" of the OOC slate.
Also, that means there are 14-15 open weeks/weekends. With 12 conference series and a bye week, something else is possible I suppose.
Here's a spreadsheet someone over at USCHO put together for this upcoming season:
Is there a reason, good or otherwise, for this? Surely if they knew in late April/early May before covid, what changed so that it's now mid-late August? Stupidity? Ineptitude? Desire to make everything as easy as possible for Michigan and the spoiled children of Yost? Those 10 games are indeed the full non conference slate. The Big Ten plays 24 conference games (4 again each conference opponent) and there are 34 games for college ice hockey except for “exemption” games like playing in Alaska but PSU doesn’t have any.
the Big Ten released the conference schedule on 8/22/22 and 8/30/21 so it might be a little until we get the full schedule.
