Does anyone on the akb have information on the origin of these JoePa & 409 hats?

Franco has worn Joe Pa and 409 hats at several events he attended.

Last year, prior the Franco's passing, my grandson got me four JoePa hats, two white & two blue. Wearing one of the hats while grocery shopping, a fan approached me and commented he had never seen this hat before.

Still haven't found the JoePa 409 hats like the one in the third pic.

I'm wondering if the hat was inspired by Franco and had NIKE develop and retail the hats.
Does anyone on the akb know background information or the origin of these hats?

I don’t know the background on this hat, but I’m sure a culture problem is to blame.

Just a guess. Someone had an idea and bought plain Nike stock hats (I'm assuming they are real with a Nike label inside), then had them embroidered with the other images. Not hard to get done (though not by Nike. probably too small a lot size and trademark/copyright issues for them). Otherwise, they're total knock-offs, not that anyone should care if they like the hat.

Guessing that the guy who has them listed on Ebay had them made up. He's got seven other PSU/JoePa items in his store. Relationship to Franco. Ebay address is "Skillman, NJ", so maybe.

If you're near Reading, try Heck Brothers Florist. Years ago I bought one of those hats at their Mt Penn store. The owner apparently is a big PSU supporter and had the hats and 3 foot high JoePa statues for sale. Not sure if he still carries them, though.

Step, I took a picture of my 409 hat (numbers on the front rather than the ”taxi” emblem), and the tag on the inside says legacy92.com. Hope this helps! Sorry I can’t post the pix.

I have three 409 hats. Two are Legacy brand hats, a white one and a blue one. I have another that has 409 The Paterno Way on the front. I have never worn any of them (I have too many hats). I didn't realize they were hard to find. I assume I bought the two Legacy hats in State College on one of my yearly trips. The other was a gift. Not sure where it came from.
