Does South Carolina's two year run in mens basketball in 1997 and 1998 even get mentioned?

SEC network's "southern hoops" documentary reaches the decade of the 1990s on this Monday's episode. I wonder if the two year run we had in 1997 and 1998 including the regular season title in 1997, even gets mentioned?

I have my doubts.

It shouldn't due to the colossal back to back NCAA flops. Probably the only team in history to lose in the opening round as a 2 seed & 3 seed in back to back years.

I hate Copin state too this day!!!

I live in Richmond, Virginia and that 1998 game vs the UVA wannabes swung me over the VCU side of that fence before I even moved up here.

Y'all should've taken the bug spray up to Washington with ya that day!

Another reason we should’ve kept Frank. I never understood the tournament every year crowd. Give me a coach who knows how to win tournament games. A ton of coaches make the tournament often and never get past the 2nd round.

I'll say it: Frank got lucky.

Ahhh, that 1997 team. The season started inconspicuously enough at 5-5 with losses to CSU and UNC-A and a pretty abysmal loss to Clemosn. Then we hit our stride and started 11-0 in conference play. I remember The State headline when we reached 10-0: "10 and oh my!". Then we lost to UGA, then lost UGA again in the conference semis.

Ironically, as we ascended to a #2 seed in the NCAAT and got bounced by Coppin State in the first round, Clemson made it to the Sweet 16 as a #4 seed.

I don't think so. They are too busy talking about UK.

Until I went back and looked yesterday, I'd honestly totally forgotten that Clemson did so well in the tournament that year. Just another reason that season is best left to the dustbin of history.
