Does St. Stan in Bay St. Loius ever produce D1 talent?

Just curious. They just hired a buddy of mine as their head football coach. The guy is a huge MSU fan and was even a walk-on WR around 98-00. I know that he will be recrootin' for MSU if any of his players are D1 worthy. I was just wondering how often D1 talent comes out of this school.

Lots of controversy surrounding that program right now. One of our OL played there pre-Katrina; Brigone.

Edited to add:

That's where Favre's nephew plays. Put up good numbers in a spread system. Not sure he's a D1 prospect at this point though.

The only real talent they had when we played them were soccer players. The only reason for that was because the kids were from Spain, Brazil, and some other places around Europe.

Dylan Favre is still very young.

Sophmore stats from Scout.com

2007 - Dylan threw for 36 touchdowns 3,092 yards and completed 196 of 322 pass attempts. 1st team all district, Sea Coast Echo offensive player of the year and 1st team All-South Mississippi.

If the kid continues to develope and put up the numbers we should push to pick up the kid!

You will know his name when it hits the paper(s). He has several years of being an assistant coach at different high schools in Texas and was a HC for a year at a HS in North Alabama. He took the team in Bama to the playoffs for the first time in like 15 or 20 years (or maybe longer).

I had forgotten about Brigone. Hopefully the younger Favre develops into a real talent and having a MSU head coach will help him make the right choice.

Peterman was from St. Stan and has gone on to a great career as an offensive lineman at LSU and is now starting in the NFL

And a pretty damn good one.

I played under Coach Ladner for two years and we were pretty average, I missed out on playing with Terry Lawyer, (who ended up signing with MSU).

As for Football, SSC has been catching a lot of heat for recruiting players in Hancock county, but Im sure it will continue.

Also Mr. Hancock Bank lives about half mile from the campus.

As far as recruiting though, if they are SEC caliber, most SSC kids used to go to LSU/Ole Miss.

They are a decent basketball school. It probably has to do with the fact that the Coast in general is not as competitive as it once was in hoops and that Ladner recruits players. He also has a good assistant in Grieves who left Gulfport under some controversy (but certainly racked up some W's).

If I were the new coach, I would be concerned about the circumstances that led to the resignation of their last Coach. By most accounts, he was probably the best coach they've ever had. Young and ran an innovative spread. He had more success there than anyone I remember. I think his biggest problem was that he was in the same district with Picayune. That's probably a problem for Ladner too.
