companies, it is really none of your damn business how they choose to spend their money. Right?

I think some of that crap is horrible. But, life insurance benefits, vesting of options, etc. all pretty well make sense to me. Not competing after death = not so much sense. But, in the end, these shareholders of these companies spend their company's money the way they want to. And I don't give a **** if they pile it up and burn it.

Edited: I mean, if you don't own these companies, it seems to me you really just have problems with envy, not about waste.

On the other hand, most all of us pay taxes for the political welfare.

Actually, I look at it a little different. These are pubic companies. However, I don't seriously believe the stockholders have much say in executive compensation. I know they "vote" on the board, but the vast majority of individual shareholders have no power in the running of the corportate affairs. I am not against capitalism, but am against raping the shareholders.

I'll stop now --- I know this is a sports board, not political. Sorry.

I own tiny pieces of hundreds, maybe thousands, of companies through mutual funds. So I give a damn. Further, I'm sure 10's of thousands of employees in these companies give a damn as millions upon millions could have been spent better paying the people who make the company work rather than bathing top cats with it.
