Should have been raised years ago. Sure would help the sport across the nation.
That's the way I would interpret the situation.I am pretty sure with these new rules that you have as many scholarships as you have roster spots. I don’t think it matters what sport. If the roster cap is 20 guys we can give 20 full scholarships. You just have to have the money to do so. At least that is how I understand it.
This will only help PSU even more.
Rumor has it that there are schools that can’t afford 9.9 scholarships, let alone 15.Should have been raised years ago. Sure would help the sport across the nation.
I've been trying to figure this out but all the reporting at the national level has not mentioned wrestling even though I suspect it will impact every sport in some way.
Is that a different sport than gymnastics?Tumbling increase is pretty wild….
This is not necessarily true. PSU wrestling will have to reduce its roster size to 30, from typically around 37.I’m happy that more young men and women will get to be college student athletes. In fact, I think schools should be able to give out as many scholarships as they want. I can’t see how there will be a lot of schools handing out 30 wrestling scholarships. There may be schools who drop wrestling, but it certainly would mean that the rich will continue to get richer.
Now there is a "roster" limit (not a scholarship limit). So, 30 wrestlers on the roster. The number of scholarships is therefore essentially limited to 30. ...I think.Apologies if I missed this, but will scholarships no longer be permitted to be split amongst the wrestlers?
Thank you.Now there is a "roster" limit (not a scholarship limit). So, 30 wrestlers on the roster. The number of scholarships is therefore essentially limited to 30. ...I think.
If a school wanted to split a scholarship, it could as long as the roster is not greater than 30 or it could have 30 full scholarships.
