No crazier than having Doty back for Kick Returns. Doty never played as bad at the position as Sellers did tonight. That game at UK when Bobo was interim was brutal…but Sellers was as bad as I’ve seen from any QB.

He didn't look bad tonight. He looked incompetent. Hate it for him. I was as psyched about his debut as I have been any player in a long time.

Great suggestion. He’s mature and can run and pass, definitely better than what I saw today

Yes, to the maturity part. He would not light up any scoreboards, but he would not be overwhelmed like Sellers was.

That one made me think he really would be something special. And frankly and truthfully, he still has plenty of time to be special. Fingers crossed tonight was nerves or just a bad night.

Well, it was a bad night, no doubt about that. One of the worst QB performances I can recall. He simply did not look capable at all If he was missing guys, that's one thing, but he honestly just did not look capable.

Kind of remind of Brandon McIlwain and how he was a fantastic high school QB but looked like he had never played QB before when he played here.

I’ll say again, the game plan was trash. Needed to play action and roll him out to the right more so he could run or pass. Drop back passing, not he is ready for, as Yoda would say. Still he missed open reads which I think Doty could have hit

MIssed WIDE open WR multiple times. Simply airmailed a few and chucked several in the dirt.

Wait, wait!!! Didn't Sellers come down from the Cross??? And 'Rocket' was that a fizzle or is he just a dud??? I was told the defense was greatly improved. Someone Lied!!!

Well I for one hope you guys are wrong. I certainly hope for more. It wasn't a great game by any stretch. But other than giving up fumble he ran pretty tough. No that's not what we want him to do very often but it's nice that he can.

He was obviously over amped for his first college start in the first half. Sailing those balls high was evidence of that. Yes he also threw a couple in the dirt. That first long pass should have been caught. Yes it would have been a great adjustment but it hit the guy right in the hands. Two or three of those passes get hauled in and we got a different looking game potentially.

I'll tell you what I did not see. I didn't see near the panic on his face that I saw when Doty was about to get killed because the blocking was atrocious. I saw him look down field and try to make good decisions.

He didn't go completely bonkers and throw straight at the other team. He didn't get a whole bunch of ridiculous penalties. He didn't let the play clock expire. He didn't botch the snap count or fumble a snap. He didn't ask to come out of the game as soon as he got touched by a defender either. Yes he missed some reads. He locked in on one guy while someone else was running wide open down the field. He may never have that kind of field vision or it may be something that he gets together quickly once the game slows down just a little bit. Only time will tell.

I just want to point out one thing. I don't believe our offensive line has progressed even a little bit. We've got multiple four and five star talent over the last three recruiting seasons. We should have four and five star guys sitting on the bench at this point. WTF? Spencer rattler with all his experience was able to win five games at this program last year. He might be the starting quarterback for the New Orleans saints sooner rather than later. I think Sellers could win five games last year or this year with this offensive line. This was far from the worst quarterback performance in Gamecock history. If you think that you haven't watched much Gamecock history.

Where the hell is Shawn Elliott? If I were Beamer he would be taking over that OL tonight.

I have been a Gamecock fan for a long time. Sellars struggled today, there is no doubt. But good Lord, he is a 19 yo who has a ton of weight on his shoulders in his first collegiate start. He did not play that poorly when he came in last year, but the responsibility and stress was different.

I, for one, believe he was pressing to impress. Took too many deeper shots when the underneath routes were open, which is why I feel this way.

Give him time to get his feet wet as QB1. Unlike some of you in this thread, I think he’ll be okay. Just may take a few games.

I don’t think the game has slowed down for him.. He seems extremely hesitant in his decision making. Having enough time in the pocket would help but this OL is turrrible

He hasn't developed since last year because we have no one on the staff with the ability to coach him up. Actually looked like he regressed.

Right. It's not like he just missed on a few long or complicated throws. He was _badly_ under throwing 15 yard passes to receivers in the flats.

Harbor actually made a beautiful leaping catch last night on a badly overthrown ball, but could not get his foot down inbounds. I felt bad for him.

He under performed in passing but did well running the ball. Yes he had some overthrows and I'm sure the drop from Jared Brown hurt his confidence. Just because he had some overthrows doesn't mean he isn't going to be a great QB. Do you not remember the terrible performance Conner Shaw had in his first start against ECU? We were losing and had to bring in Garcia to save the day. Shaw turned out to be maybe the best QB we have had.

I think I’m going to take a break from this site for a while. I know we didn’t play well last Saturday and Sellers didn’t live up to expectations. However the negativity on here is way over the top. I’m as disappointed as anyone that we didn’t dominate ODU, but we won. Can we play better and get a least six wins going forward? Maybe not, but no one knows.
I do know attacking the coaches and the players is not going to help.

I don't think an SEC road game at 3:30 is what the doctor would order to help settle down a young qb who struggled at home against an FCS team.
