Am also looking at Sellers As QB2Sellers looked more explosive than Doty. But it is Spring. OL didn’t perform well and Doty had a green jersey on so the running part of his game wasn’t really a factor whereas it was for Sellers.
I’m convinced Sellers is our 2nd best QB right now and if Rattler goes down, Sellers might have to play a lot. But not giving up on Doty yet. He had a burst last year in the few appearances that was missing in the past when he was injured. Still, after this season, Doty will have a decision to make.
Agree on Sellers. Appears what we have heard is true, he is mentally and physically ready as a freshman!Sellers looked more explosive than Doty. But it is Spring. OL didn’t perform well and Doty had a green jersey on so the running part of his game wasn’t really a factor whereas it was for Sellers.

I was really pulling for Doty. Seems like a great young man, and a true Gamecock. He could have easily looked at the talent Beamer has brought into the QB room and transferred. But he loves it here and wants to be here. I still say he'll probably transfer when he graduates. But he wants that USC degree. It was really telling to be that given how much Ratt was struggling early last year, the coaches didn't feel comfortable enough in Doty to put him in.I wouldn't put too much emphasis on this game to say who is QB2 at this point. I would still think based on experience that Doty is the guy. However, with a game like this, there are so many different factors that it's hard to take away anything of value. These games are more for the social aspect than really anything extremely meaningful ahead of the season.
I think transfer promises had a lot to do with that.I was really pulling for Doty. Seems like a great young man, and a true Gamecock. Sellers ran out of the pocket way too often.Sellers looked more explosive than Doty. But it is Spring. OL didn’t perform well and Doty had a green jersey on so the running part of his game wasn’t really a factor whereas it was for Sellers.

DLinemen in his face immediately so it was only option - and he was quick enough to avoid the sack and get rid of the ball.Sellers ran out of the pocket way too often.
Sellers ran out of the pocket way too often.
Connor used to do that.Sellers ran out of the pocket way too often.
Even for a spring game, Doty didn't look good.Spring Game
It's like the family touch football game at the Thanksgiving get together. Try not to get grass stains on you khakis.
Yea he looked bad but he didn’t have time and the receivers ain’t give him a chance lolMy hot take from the spring game.
Had he not he would have been sacked.Sellers ran out of the pocket way too often.

Somewhat but not entirely true. Does it tell you a lot about the team as a whole? Not really. Can it tell you things about individual players and position groups? Absolutely. The spring game is irrelevant. Results, positive or negative, don't mean anything.
What pocket???Sellers ran out of the pocket way too often.
Bingo.Somewhat but not entirely true. Does it tell you a lot about the team as a whole? Not really. Can it tell you things about individual players and position groups? Absolutely.
I dont even see how experience plays into the situation at all if one heard Doty's interview at the game. I get that there's always things to work on but he himself made it sould like he has a ton of things he need to improve on as if the list keeps growing. Think he mentioned being bad at some things. Felt like dang, probably didnt need to say all that out loud.Bingo.
If anyone is still making excuses and backing someone besides Sellers as qb2 at this juncture, then you must be a blood relative to the someone.
Someone upthread mentioned 'experience' as a deciding factor for someone other than Sellers; 'experience' has already spoken, numerous times now. More often than necessary.
It's one scrimmage. Every year there's a guy who goes off in the spring game and you never hear his name again. It might show potential, but that's all.Somewhat but not entirely true. To me the difference is obvious, either you want a qb2 who is an experienced fill in or you want a qb2 who is an explosive play maker. Both will make mistakes, but one gives you greater potential for a tremendous upside.I dont even see how experience plays into the situation at all if one heard Doty's interview at the game. Hate to say this, but would seem some transfers are in the future. 3x 4* & 1x 3* QBs behind Sellers on the bench? That's with Dak moving to RB.If anyone is still making excuses and backing someone besides Sellers as qb2 at this juncture, then you must be a blood relative to the someone.

Similar happened when Shaw showed up.
Agree. Got Reno coming in next year as well.Yep. Behind Rattler, we've got Doty, Gauthier, Davis, Bailey and Sellers. No way we can keep them all. It's just the way it works. You have to stock up and let the cream rise to the top. Some will choose to transfer. Others will be content to settle into a role like Scarnecchia.
If I had to pick two this moment, I'd take Sellers and Bailey.
other than Sellers, nothing at all impressiive with Gauthier, Bailey or Davis even though they were highly recruited...Sellers looked much better than them, and i also think the way the spring game was played didnt do Doty any favors. i dont see the other 3 making any kind of impact from what the spring game showed.. hope i am wrongI was really pulling for Doty. May want to tap the brakes a bit… I am concerned that he looks to run too quickly. We need to see if he can stay in the pocket and throw according to the script.Agree on Sellers. Appears what we have heard is true, he is mentally and physically ready as a freshman!

He ran because he had to - no pocket. When that happens we want someone who is quick and effective doing it - Sellers was both.May want to tap the brakes a bit… I am concerned that he looks to run too quickly. We need to see if he can stay in the pocket and throw according to the script.

Sellers was the best combination of run and pass I've seen as a Gamecock QB since Connor Shaw.
