"Edited to add: On top of that, we all know that it is far easier to win in baseball than in football at MSU, yet you still hold them to the same standard. Unbelievable."

Is it really? Lets compare:

In football, you can schedule 4 easy games against lower level teams. After that, all you have to do is go 2-6 in the SEC. 6-6, bowl game, everybody is happy.

In baseball, you have to win more than 25% of your conference games to have a chance at making the SEC Tourney and NCAA Tourney

I agree that it is easier to win championships in baseball than it is football, but to simply win- i'd say football is easier. There is no reason we cant be one of the top 8 teams in the SEC each year. Breaking the top 4, thats a different story.

If UPig, Missouri, Kansas, Kentucky, Virginia Tech, and Texas Tech's of the world can win, so can we. Its all about mindset and having a good coaching staff.

...it's far easier to win in baseball than it is in football at MSU. For you to even contend otherwise is asinine. What you are comparing is everybody's standards of success, which have been molded because of the fact that it is easier to win in baseball. Roughly the top 9 teams play NCAA postseason baseball. Roughly the top 9 teams go bowling now. Being the 7th - 9th best team in football, while not great, is not considered a failure at MSU. Being the 7th - 9th best team in baseball is. Nobody would be happy with .500 baseball. .500 football is more acceptable, because it's harder to win in football. Get it yet?

If you don't believe that it's much more difficult for us to compete in SEC football than it is for us to compete in SEC baseball, you're either just stirring **** up again or you're a moron or both.

MState fans might be happy with that after 3-8 for years but that's not "winning." Before Polk's return MState regularly finished in the top half of SEC baseball. That's winning. Hell, even with Polk's last 6 years we finished in the top 8 in the nation and won the SECT. We haven't finished in the top 8 in football history and have not won a major bowl game since the 1940s. I would agree that we could have a more consistent football program and I would gladly have a winning program. The closest thing we've had to a winning program was from 1997 to 2000 and that's probably the best 4 year stretch we've had since the 1940s. The historical evidence suggests that it is easier to win in baseball. However, past performance does not necessarily indicate future results. I bet we make it back to the CWS before we make it back to the SECCG.

MSU baseball is at least a top 15 job in the country. We see what Cohen has already been able to do in a month. All of the sudden we have a chance at a #1 recruiting class. I don't think Croom would ever have a shot at a #1 recruiting class aside from winning the National Championship and even then probably wouldn't. I think this is the biggest difference between the two.
