I thought he could have given props to Eugene Clinton (I think) who invented the DPR in Sherrill's day. Otherwise, it was decent for what was obviously freshmens orientation day.

What is this douche bag's name?
This is the gayest **** ever.
He sounds like a back row rush chairman.

I don't get why some of you think it isn't cool to have school spirit. Would I do what he did? Hell no but he is an orientation leader, it's part of his job.

He's an Orientation Leader. Just kidding.

If it's his job, he shouldn't suck at it so bad. Not to mention that if you watch the other 2 vids that accompany this one, dude is singlehandedly taking credit for resurrecting the DPR. And to boot, he tries to tell it as if he were Patton leading his troops through France.

And does this **** really appeal to incoming Freshmen? Thanks Lisa Harris.

Agreed...I'm too fat and lazy to try it but it was cool back in its time.

It was the first game of the 98 season against Vandy, and I was walking back to my seat after doing the pregame show.

It was really cool because they were playing Welcome to the Jungle over the speakers, which seemed to work better then than they do now. Right after the intro, right at the part where Axl goes "Cha", they "broke it down" (per the douche) on the 20 yard line, there was no posing or anything like that, and when they got done, the crowd went nuts. I was like, "What was that?"

And if my memory serves me correctly, we pinned Vandy inside the 20, and on the first play of the game, a DB picked off a pass and took it to the house.

I'm not sure what the hell that guy is doing, but if you want to see the DPR in all its full glory, go to the 3:51 mark on the video below:

...freshmen would be practicing that **** every Friday before the game. Of course, A&M is kind of a cult, so....

I'm just glad to hear we do something, ANYTHING to foster school spirit with the young'ns. Ole Miss makes all of their frosh take a class in the history of Ole Miss (or at least the did). All we did was take that stupid library course.

Speaking of orientation, a couple of us picked up some Starkville High chicks and made out with them in our dorm rooms....good times.

was the high water mark of the original DPR, and also maybe the high water mark of the JWS era. That is still my favorite Egg Bowl of all time.

Does it look goofy? Sure. But there isn't anything wrong with this.

It seems like it is good attempt to get the incoming students a little interested in everything MSU. Isn't that what so many people want here? This is just part of MSU trying to build the fanbase, the excitement, and the interest in MSU football. "Lets bowl in the North endzone!" Who is going to fill those seats up? Those kids in that room! Not in 3 years, but in 5, in 10, in 20 years.

This is just an attempt to have some fun and get people interested in what is going on while teaching new students, who may not be familiar with everything, about some of the things that go on with the program.

If they asked me though, I think it would be cool if they actually had a couple of football players show up and teach it. Or at least join in with him while he did it!

that this video doesn't fall into the wrong hands. Enrollment might plummet. That is the most embarrassing video I have ever seen as far as MSU is concerned.

considering that they are all supposed to be on campus working out.

Another cool thing would be to track down Kenzakie Jones and let him tell the real story about the DPR- which I doubt includes someone "strutting to the 50 yard line". It would be really nice to let someone off of those great teams in the late 90's tell the incoming Fr., Hey, we do have a little bit of history here.

Yeah, that guy looks goofy doing this, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with getting 17 year old kids fired up about coming to school and being a part of a larger community. Everyone loves the DPR and we need to promote it and embrace it rather than be embarrassed by it. I and probably all the rest of you fat whiteys have no business doing it, but I'm glad some folks can leave being cool behind to promote pride in MSU.

unbelievable game. i just got chillbumps again. i'll never forget that.

and THAT'S how you do the DPR. these guys on the team have "added their own touch" or whatever, but that was how it was done. kenzaki jones was the star of the show. does anyone have a clip of when we used to do it on the field (before georgia screwed it up for us)?

we were so damn good back then. we looked good (wearing actual maroon), we kicked ***, and football was fun. people HATED to play us. it was awesome.

Funny you say that since Jackie and the coaches had on jackets that were a lighter shade of maroon than the jerseys. Not to single you out cause everyone is guilty of it, but it just proves that when we are winning and putting out competitive teams people find far less to ***** about.

I think that's pretty damn cool that they are doing that at orientation. It's a shame that school spirit is looked down on by fans that are too cool to participate. Those are the same fans who go to the game and don't wear school colors and are too cool to cheer for their team. I don't know why that guy is labeled as a douchebag just because he is showing some enthusiasm about our school.
