In Starkville, the joy of Christmas was tempered with the sorrow of the loss of an inspiring Bulldog. One of MSU’s most popular and courageous sons, Dr. Donald Lee “Donnie” Prisock, 72, died in peaceful sleep at his Starkville home in the early morning hours Dec. 26. Born with cerebral palsy.

Donnie lived his life with positivity and kindness. He was the consummate Bulldog fan and loved the university. After high school, Donnie earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from MSU and later a doctorate from Ole Miss.

He started his 31-year career at MSU as an academic counselor with the Athletics department and then moved into the job he was meant to do - working with students with disabilities as the coordinator of MSU Student Support Services.

He is survived by his wife, Amy; son, Wil (Sasha); grandson, Wesley; his loving attendant, Hannah Edmonds; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Lee Prisock, Sr., and mother, Virginia Bailey Prisock.

Details on Donnie’s funeral are still being determined, but visitation will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church on Friday, Jan. 3 and a Celebration of Life service at the same venue on Saturday, Jan. 4.

Donnie requested that everyone wear MSU attire or colors. A private family graveside service at Memorial Garden Park Cemetery will be held prior to the memorial service.

Welch Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Donnie's memory to Grace Presbyterian Church, 525 Academy Road, Starkville, MS, 39759.

I remember him well. He was at State when I was and drove around the campus in a Maroon specially equipped, chain driven 3 wheeled vehicle that had a ramp in the rear he could drive up and then the ramp pulled up to enclose him. He drove that thing all over the place. I've never seen another vehicle like it, seems like someone told me back then that the people at Rice Equipment (John Deere dealer then) helped him build it or kept it going for him. knock him out john was right, he was always smiling and seemed to be in a good mood.
