Wow. Looking at that, it’s pretty incredibly we scored 39 points and won the game. Credit to the team for that, but yeah, those nine consecutive drives are ugly.

I will say this about Leach teams. They do not quit. Both teams last night had every reason in the world to quit and neither one did. But they both played like excrement

It's kinda stupid to just show a portion of the drive chart and not the whole thing, right?

I don't think it's stupid. There's no excuse for that type of ineptitude against AU's D. It's the main reason we squeaked it out in OT and it's the main reason we were embarassed against LSU, KY & Bamer. I'm no longer confident about getting the egg back now because of that display.

You can make any team look good or bad if you just show selective edits of their drive charts.

It’s not much better looking at the whole thing. Less than 300 yards of offense & 3 turnovers against a team that will finish 1-7 in the SEC.

Imagine being on our defense. I wonder what they say on the sidelines. Besides "where's the oxygen?"

Not surprising. Watching the game on TV, it felt as if we were playing tentative. Hare to explain, but I saw a team trying to harder to "not lose" than "try to win"

These stats also jump out:

18 rushes for 13 yards
62 pass attempts
3 TOs
5 punts /32 yd avg

We had 153 yards in the first quarter and had less than 100 yards over the next two and a half quarters until the touchdown drive that put us up 30-25. Idk how an offense goes into the tank like that after starting out so hot, but we need to figure out why we do it.

So 4 runs in the second half we started with an 18 point lead. Amazing.

Here’s why it’s not at all stupid. During the 2.5 quarters of ineptitude that Patdog pointed out, our run/pass ratio was 3:36.

How many times do we have to see the air raid fall apart in front of our eyes before Leach understands that it stops working when we stop running? Not a rhetorical question. We see it, the media sees it, everybody sees it. Well, everyone except Leach. Is his offense really so black and white such that the defense entirely dictates what we do based on how many men are in the box? Then we wonder why we struggle?

It's those first two that killed us. We were up 24-3 at that point. It's that dangerous area where you're in control, but still not far enough ahead to relax.

I know they were in a 4-man front, but we should have run the damn ball a little more at that point, instead we are passing and they are bringing pressure, which caused those 2 gimpy fumbles by Rogers, because he didn't even halfway see them coming.

Then it just spiraled. Rogers reverted to Checkdown Charlie. The OL was in defense mode. Auburn was gassed up.

Still cannot believe we won. It's like the universe wouldn't allow the loss, because it would have been so damning.

This is a much mellower SPS than it used to be. To go this far in this thread and no one bring up Roger's performance is a DRASTIC departure from days gone by. Kudos...I guess.

Edited to ad: I see Goat just got us back on track

I will say that I guess you have to take into account that DJ and Woody were banged up, so that's likely why we didn't just pound the rock. But I have confidence in Price, so who knows.

In our other drives we had 306 yards on 34 plays to 64 yards in 41 plays on the above mentioned drive. 9 yards a play vs 1.56 a play. Crazy. It was like two different teams.

That's not entirely true. The Offense played like excrement for 2/3 of the game, too many times in the previous years they played the whole game like excrement so I guess that's an improvement. ** Also, in previous years we would have loss to Auburn. Good with the Bad seems to be this team's norm.
