Did anybody else feel the earthquake this afternoon around 1:00. I live in Tupelo and felt it but didn't know what was going on. I thought something blew up.

Yes, that is the second one lately. The other was in Memphis about 1 month ago on a Friday. It was felt over into Corinth, Iuka, and somewhat further South.

but now that you mention it, I don't think it goes down into MS, but maybe movement along the fault could cause something there.

Looking around, I can't find info on a fault under Tupelo. Maybe they'll sprout a volcano..now that would be cool. And it would give those Rebels hints at a new nickname.

that quake was in Illinois, and wasn't on the New Madrid Fault. It was just strong enough to be felt (barely) in Memphis. Didn't feel that one. Didn't feel anything here today either, but it's a little nerve-wracking hearing about 2 tremors in a month in the same general region. They say that if a "big one" hits the New Madrid, it will be devastating, since most buildings in this part of the world are not built to earthquake code.

it will make the Katrina aftermath in NOLA look like a well-organized fire drill.

I did a little research on the New Madrid fault. If the "big one" hits, do you think the effects could damage homes in south Mississippi (Hattiesburg area)?

The last time that system was active it rang church bells on the east coast. Boston I think. This system produced quakes and aftershocks for months. The Mississippi ran backwards, lakes disappeared. sand blows 100ft high. If it were to hit now where it did before there are thousands more people living in places that were fields back then. I think it is known as the worst quake in American history. They don't know much about the system either. I think when it happened before they thought it happened in the center of a tectonic plate instead of at the joint between two plates . I think they found the system down deeper and they didn't know it was there. It is a very old system. Pretty cool special on one of the science channels about it. If it ever breaks free again it may shake Memphis to rubble. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that is the same system.

The Bible-thumpers on GP said the reason Katrina hit where it did was all the sinning done in New Orleans and at the Gulf Coast casinos. They have yet to come up with an explanation for all the churches that were destroyed.

Maybe the churches were evil too. False prophets, you know?

Hi everyone. I guess I ought to say a few things. First, I have a snowblower for sale, early bird special. But I think we may need it this summer.

Second, I'm in pain, as though my family were kidnapped, because they were my family, and I want them back. One was black, one white, one was red. Nice guitars.

Let's not do this based on race or ethnicity. But it's going to hit the fan, when the river runs backwards, and all things logical are reversed. Maybe a magnetic pole flip, I'm not sure what God is trying to say. All I know is that I am afraid of nothing because I have heard from God. Also, note that a tornado sprouted from the same place in the ground two days earlier than the 3.1. This is not some coincidence. Under ground the Earth is as if a large motor, electromagnetic, electrorheological, and affected by sunspots, which have fallen to weeks of zero incidence, formerly a historical fluke. God has kept it cold because otherwise, all the sluts aiming at the whitehouse would have been campaigning based on how to best tax themselves some revenues based on your breathing. It's not going to stop.

Mondays are the day the media drops new bombs, because we're supposed to be too confused and getting all ready for work to notice that it's another lie.

Today's big lie? Juan Mccain's 'global warming/climate change' & 'it is all good' pronouncement.

My friends, he is full of it just like all the others. Who wants to get it back?

The river will run backwards. God will loose volcanic dust and storms do sprout from the ground, not from the wind currents from your backyard fire pit. We have been had and I suggest you keep your allegiances to God and your powder dry. ANYTHING on TV is crap. The volcanoes help to regulate the atmosphere. I say we let God do the climate controlling and never allow the man to interfere.

Anyway, I know what I was doing at the time of the 3.1. Crying like a ***** I was. Shouting to the world what my loss means to me.

My words are true. I guess I'm just another one who found God due to my not fitting in? I decided that I don't care who gets 'elected'. So vote for Dr. Bronner. I don't know where the locus is demographically for this board; I'm only here for the juice.

I saw it in a dream. The water was flowing backwards. The white Bengal Tiger that emerged from the sea that was flowing onto the land, and not from the land to the sea, had the face of a man. I happened to be working on the joints of a large wooden ship that was docked along the river. Elsewhere, the rivers were running so high that they had to be channelled by man made gutter type containments. In former dreams I was naked in a field of lions, and I was their master, and gave them loving touches.

That's right: you're glad you're not me. I'm just sayin' what I was told.

Not all Christians and "Bible-thumpers" believe that nonsense. There were plenty of Christians in those areas as well as churches, as you had pointed out. He pulled Lot out of Sodom before destroying it and He saved Noah and his household from the Flood. There is certainly nothing in scripture that suggests that God will decide to destroy an area and then allow one or more of His people to be caught up in said destruction. In fact the Bible suggests the complete opposite is true.
