And you're right about the writers in this state. In large part they are afraid to say something negative about a coach or team. Or at least they are much slower to do so than other states.

you must first acknowledge there was a mistake. Two years ago, RP's response was totally different. He said then he was not aware of the rule. Stuff like this kind of takes the "wondering" out of "it makes you wonder"

2 years ago he acted like he would've done it had he known about the opportunity.

And when is the last time we got all 3 games in against TN? We should just move that series to the Palmeiro Center.

Personally, I would think that you would want to play as many games as possible just to try to get back to .500. Forget the SEC Tournament.

Now to play a little devil's advocate, if we played that game two years ago and lost, we still don't go to the SEC Tournament. We'll never know. I don't think that this will matter this year because we aren't going to any postseason tournament, so it's a moot point.

But, I am upset because of the first point I made. I know .500 is a long shot as well, but it is a little bit more managable to get that than the SEC Tournament and it would be nice to show me as a fan that you are at least trying to make an effort to get there.

giving MSU second priority to his tilting at windmills. MSU hasn't been his top priority in close to 20 years. We're 3 games out of 8th place with 11 to play. We all know the odds are slim, but it's Polk's job to at least try to get us in the SEC tournament. And not making every effort to get 3 games in this weekend isn't going to help us at all. A rainout is basically the same as a loss anyway, so there's no reason not to try to play 2 today.

At least in the SEC. Weather can, and will, wreak havoc with your season b/c they don't make up rainouts. I seem to recall that rainouts (against terrible teams, no less) cost us at least one SEC West title under McMahon.

I wish that there were some way to have a few days at Hoover before the tournament starts dedicated to making up the rainouts.

He a stubborn old man with an ego the size of Texas due to being worshipped in Starkville for 30 years. He will never admit he was wrong or made a mistake. He cares more about proving he is right than he does winning games.

You nailed it pat, a rainout this weekend hurts us a lot. We end the weekend with one less SEC series and sitting in exactly the same place, 10 games under .500. Another loss this weekend doesn't really hurt you, but a win can help start climbing out of the hole. At least you can talk all week about finally winning a series. This season can't end soon enough.

that we owe UT's baseball team an apology? Polk's ego is hurting them as well in this particular situation. I read this morning that UT's baseball coach wanted to play, but the Legend said no.

As a University, it's the least we could do.

Dear Todd Raleigh,

We're sorry that our baseball coach is demented. He knows not what he does. Rest assured that we are taking steps to rectify the problem after the season. As far as this season and screwing you over, we'll have LT help you out a little to even things out when the postseason rolls around this year <wink, wink>.

Sincerely,

Greg Byrne.

PS- Coach Polk seems to be really enjoying his orange gravy boat that you presented to him.

I couldn't describe Polk any better than this, so I won't try.
