The opportunity to build a solid foundation was certainly there in the 1980s. It's too bad suits at some universities didn't have the ability to see where the road was headed. Instead, they were more concerned with trying to stick it to rival schools.
When Penn State moved to the Big 10, Northeast football took a nose dive. People in the northeast thought basketball was the money maker, but football drives the college economy.
Pitt and Syracuse tanked Joe's vision of an Eastern all-sports conference. Pitt especially wanted to grift off of PSU football but refused to keep us on their BB schedule. That's why I disagree with those who want to let either into the B1G or back on our schedule. They deserve to be thrown under the Blue and White bus.
I was struck by the fact they mentioned Coach Paterno and it wasn't in relation to Sandusky. It was football related.
The ghost of Joe still haunting eastern football. I wonder how many private moments of those buffoons who dismissed his vision all those years ago have been spent kicking themselves?
