UL will not make it past the sweet 16, mark my words. They were “projected” to be better than us last season and we saw how that worked out for them. Anyone with a pulse could do better than Payne and that’s why they are being projected like they are. PK “turned” around the program they say but still lost in the first round and got that tail spanked in Rupp.

CBS has a 101 things for college basketball up on its homepage today. The writer speaks very highly of UK this year. Even predicts a Final 4. Talks about both offense and defense having a chance to be very good.

Isn't it widely known that JQ will be ready for full contact in September? Am I missing some bit of info or something?

Im sure there will be some rust to shake off, but barring any setbacks it seems he will be 100% ready to start the season. ESPN seems to be trying to find any which way they can to not include him as a factor this coming season.

John Calipari will face Kentucky in the Final Four. Darius Acuff is a top newcomer for an Arkansas squad that made a run to the Sweet 16 in March, giving the Razorbacks depth and experience that last season's group lacked. And while Kentucky might need some time to get off the runway, it could have one of the nation's most talented rosters as March approaches if Jayden Quaintance is healthy. -- Medcalf

I think it’s very much up in the air how long it will take him to be 100%. He’s 17 which helps tremendously but otherwise no guarantee on that.

UL would not have made the NCAAT last season playing in the SEC. They have some highly ranked guys coming in, but are lacking depth in the front court big time.
I think you may want to actually look at the UpfL roster. They have grown men with experience and talent in the front court. They have depth at every position. The have 5 players 6’10” or above now.

I think Pope is playing it safe, but the latest update from Aaron Torres was that he'd be cleared for practice by end of August and then 5-on-5s for September. Of course that doesnt mean he wont be 100%, and im sure its gonna take time. But somr pundits are trying to sell us on his playing time being cut short and I just don't see anything to suggest that. Hes gonna be playing game 1, at least as far as now (barring set backs).

The reason why it’s not widely know is because ESPN keeps trying to push this narrative that he might not be a factor for UK. Which is so surprising coming from them..
What is the source of your glowingly positive medical information?

UL has been ridiculously thought of to be way better than they will be. The midget hype machine has been out in full force since the hire. It's a doormat program that's been gone since Crum, Pitino didnt understand and went there, failed, never lifted the program to the level of his name, and that was it. And if he can't continue the success and win big no one can do it.

Go around the country and ask common fans who the best basketball programs are. most of the time UL won't even come up in conversation. They'll go through 20 and forget they exist. So a lot of hype and chest pounding comes out of that program to make up for how small it is. Here we go again, look at me wooo! And nothing comes from it.

UL is only getting this love because they play in a crap conference and will likely finish in 2nd place, likely earning them a 2 or 3 seed (i.e. a top 10 ranking).

Never can one truly evaluate a team until they play. Even in JC’s last year they were playing great basketball until the seven footers became available and it changed everything.

Louisville will be really good. I hope I’m wrong. They have a lot of talent, and, a good coach.
However, the ACC is weak, and they’ll likely be over seeded in the NCAA tournament.

I still think Louisville should have given Kenny Payne at least three more years.

It’s not blue tint, it’s reality. UL plays in one of the weakest leagues in the entire country and get their hopes up, just to get eliminated in the first round of tourney when they play someone outside of the ACC like last year.

UK is 40-17 against UL all time, 13-2 in the past decade and a half and 6 less championships. We’ve won 3 since your last championship 38 years ago.

This mic is getting kinda heavy, I might as well drop it! 😜

Still reading the article, I take it?
No I’m still laughing. The article was written over 2-1/2 months ago, and only a few weeks after the surgery.

Here’s some info from 2 weeks ago:
“I’ve been progressing pretty well,” Quaintance said while declining to put a timetable on his recovery. “I’ve been trusting the trainers and coaches to try and get me right.

Dr. Ski- Maybe you should contact him (and ESPN) with your updated diagnosis.

Despite Louisville being irrelevant on the national scene the last few years, some sportswriter’s think they are a top 20 team, I don’t see it, they also play in a weak conference. They like to rank them high in football and basketball when they are just average teams, and they are wrong a lot.

Ah see, I figured because your **** got exposed, you just ran off because you had nothing to counter with.

Sports writer and college basketball insider Aaron Torres had this to say, which you conveniently left out:

Last season, Quaintance suffered an ACL tear near the end of the year. Until recently, there was no confirmed recovery timeline for the talented center. That changed on Saturday, when Aaron Torres offered an update on Quaintance’s rehab and return.

“My understanding is that barring something surprising, he’ll be cleared to return to the court mid-late August, and be ready for 5-on-5 in September,” Torres said.

Says he could be ready for the season opener.

All you gave us is that JQ didn't want to put a timetable on his return, despite saying that he's progressing very well. I see no reason to believe he won't be ready for the start of the season, as that is what was reported from day 1, and we've seen nothing to suggest that has changed. It's honestly comical and also pathetic just how badly some of our rivals are hoping that JQ isn't able to play, when everything points to the contrary.

FWIW, I'm not saying there WON'T be any setbacks. It's very possible JQ isn't ready, to think otherwise is silly. But my point is, we have yet to hear anything that points to that. The story from day 1 was what was posted above: Practice in August, 5-on-5 in September (which is basically the last step before playing). He is currently on a timetable to be ready for the start of the season.. so I still don't understand why ESPN and our rivals are trying to tell us this guy might not even play.

Uhhh, really?
Your quote that started this:
“Isn't it widely known that JQ will be ready for full contact in September?”

You should stop before you violate HIPAA laws with your inside information. 😂 😂

It IS widely known he should be ready for September. Thats literally the situation at hand. Thats what the time tables suggest, that is the plan for JQ. That's literally what is being reported. That doesnt mean there wont be set backs.

But until we hear of said set back, there is no reason to think he wont be practicing, doing drills, and suiting up for opening night.

This isnt that difficult..

UL fans never learn. That kiddie league y’all play in absolutely failed to prepare you for NCAA tournament competition. You didn’t just lose to Creighton, you got spanked, in what was essentially a home game. Your hood *** players and fans will get a big head once again beating up on the Pitts and Georgia Techs of the world, then come back to reality when you play someone with a pulse. Same story different year.

Also.
The crew at The Field of 68 has named the 12 teams that can win the national championship in 2026.

Kentucky is one of the 12 teams.

Here’s a look at the list: Purdue, Houston, Florida, UConn, Louisville, Texas Tech, Kentucky, Duke, St. John’s, Michigan, BYU and Arkansas.
